Question About Calling This Time Of Year

I live in northwest arkansas, and our rut starts about the end of this month or first week of Nov. My question is, can use my Primos can for some doe bleats, and what kind of response will it get this time of year? And the same with a grunt call.

Deer are vocal at all times of the year. A can call will most often be of interest to younger bucks and perhaps other does this time of year. Your grunt call will probably solicit younger bucks as well. However, I did have a mature 8 point do a full on snort wheeze right in front of me this weekend. I would be careful about too much calling, especially this early in the season. But you wont know until you try. Best of luck.

I agree, deer are vocal year round. This time of year, it will be easier to get the interest and response of younger bucks. Fawn bleets and young deer calls can get reactions from does too. I wouldn't go call crazy, or expect a lot of big results with mature deer, but hey it's deer hunting ya never know what could happen. Pretty soon though we'll be seeing some changes!

I always have my bleet near by. Works on does and bucks to close the gap. I have chased more deer off with a grunt then called in, so it only is broke out on that buck that acts as if he doesnt hear my bleet calls. Then the ears pin back and hear he comes.

Would expect to get some curious does to come in to the can call. Tried a little light grunting and sparring last weekend and had a nice little 5 pointer come in. Would limit my calling this early though. Closer to the pre rut, pick up your calling.
