ryan1990
Well Saturday my platoon Sgt. mentioned that we have a mission coming up in May to Afganistan and it was a volunteer mission that we were in need of people for, so I decided to step up and told him I would do it. We will be the security force for a group of medical personel such as vets and doctors. These are military people that are going over seas as civilians to do humanitarian work in Afgan towns. Basically We are going to go into the towns ahead of them and kill all the terrorists then make sure that nobdy messes with the doctors while they are there. Then we will all load back up on the convoy and role out to the next town and repeat the process. Im very excited about all of this. please keep me in your prayers. The unit I am deploying with is the 1/180th Cav

WvBowhunterKE
Yeah tell me about, for the year we knew we were heading this way we were told like 7 different areas. We ended up in Mosul. I guess its the only combat zone left in Iraq but its still not that bad. Thats a tough mission, I would hate to see you have to do something like that. I guess our boys are heading to Afgan. as well. The 1092nd that is, we only have about 7 in half to 8 months of our tour left.
redkneck
God's speed to you friend. Keep your head down, and we hope you have a safe trip. Thank you for your service. As time goes by, I'm getting less and less confident in our mission over there. God knows we can't let that country go back to Taliban rule. WvBowhunterKE
Hey Ryan, I want to be able to keep in contact with you, Im not sure where exactly your heading, ( If you do find out dont post it on here, you will get plenty of OPSEC breifings by the time comes.) But I am sure you will have internet, When I was on my leave about 75 percent of the troops that flew out with me were from Afganistan and they all had access to the internet. Keep us updated when the time comes and I am going to shoot you my e-mail addy. Best of luck to all of you guys and thanks alot. Heh, I know how it is to get sent over pretty young. I was born in 90 myself. I am the second youngest in the unit I am in. Its not the best, you will soon see lol. Im sure you will pick up the nickname Jr. by your third month much like myself. Your friend and fellow brother, Kenny.
