Stinger-Hunter
An oldy but a goody - I've seen that one before, doesn't help to ease my squeamishness, though.
jdavis
That is spooky. I'm gonna have to check my arrows before I shoot again now. On a side note, over the summer I developed a habit of shooting with my bow hand pretty much open. I didn't realize it until practicing with broadheads, but that grip was putting my top finger up above the arrow shelf, where the broadhead would easily slice it. Now I'm worried I'll accidentally do it while hunting so I'm trying to break the habit. I do the exact same thing and I noticed the other day that my pointer finger was very close to the end of the arrow. I can only imagine the pain of having a broadhead on there and taking the end of my finger off. Now I'm self conscious about it, hopefully I don't forget when a deer steps in front of me. jerdanmagic
This looks real but as Randy said it's different, the other I'm still scratchin my head on. I know its different, but someone posted about seeing a similar accident a few years back.

GWSmith
I just had my Wife look at this to get her opinion since she's been an RN for 41 years. A couple things she mention... The directions the blood flowed on the skin appear to be real and indicate the hand being supported during travel to the hospital. She's suprised theres not more swelling. ...and something that even suprised me for her to mention: "The arrow shaft appears to be different from in front of the hand to the back-different color and different size". In her opinion "It looks like the wound and the back half of the arrow look real and someone added the front part of the arrow".

brudaman340
That is unfortunate. See one thing i always say is if there is any problem with an arrow get rid of it. I had my first arrow that didnt completely break the other day and it was just a little fray. I broke it in half and threw it out so no one can use it just because of that. Its not worth it to shoot a broken 6 or even 20 dollar arrow for that crap. Id rather spend the money for a new one over that. My friend was saying how he was going to re-shoot his arrows that are messed up and i told him that he is a complete idiot. Not to disrespect him, but to try to tell him to stop shooting it so this wouldnt happen.
cabinkeeper101st
After seeing that,I'm glad I use an overdraw. As I see it the platform of the od will protect my hand?Plus I also use a muzzy ZERO EFFECT rest.I never knew things like that could happen,Hope he doesn't loose mobility in that hand. God bless him!

buckee
Looks real to me, except for the splinters. I still don't understand how an unbroken arrow can splinter like that.
ryan1990
Looks real to me, except for the splinters. I still don't understand how an unbroken arrow can splinter like that. Thats what Im sayin. And it looks like the splinters would have gone through bone, which doesnt seem possible. Plus the arrow looks like the frist and second part of the shaft are totally different and if you look closely its kinda blurry around the exit wound yet the arrow shaft is clear. Also, how would you hold your bow at full draw yet somehow get your hand in front of the arrow? I guess it could have been too short and slipped off idk. dance.and.shoot
I just showed a guy who works in the archery and hunting departments and he started naming all these possibilities of how it could've happened...it was quite funny. I had asked him if he wanted to see something nasty. he said only if it involved hunting; so I showed him the picture and quoted a couple of ya'll. From what I understand, he thinks it's real and is glad it's never happened to him. He said he's gonna make sure he's twice as careful when shooting his bow for now on.
