was leaving for work this morning and pulled on the interstate... look off to my left and there is a big group of turkeys in a field. Two of the gobblers were in full strut! I couldn't believe it. I only wish I would have had a camera with me. That really got my blood pumping. too bad season doesn't start until April 18th.

Re: strutting already???

I haven't seen any birds strutting yet this year but last year I was watching 4 gobblers together. 2 stayed in a full strut for 20 minutes while the other 2 just fed along behind them. This was the last weekend in January and I was still deer hunting.

PassThruArchery they were a little anxious early last year when I saw those birdss but they were still real anxious for action during our 6 week spring turkey season too. I wouldn't worry about them getting out of the mood. The hens are going to be going to nest about the same time every year. Gobblers will continue to try to get with the hens until they can't find another receptive hen.
