Bowtech_archer07
Well, went out last night, with every intention of NOT shooting a doe because the property that I was hunting on has 2 BIG deer on it. Well, I saw this doe with another around 5:30, but they turned and walked away, and I figured that they had left, not to be seen again that night. Well, about 6pm, they walked out again, walked around a pond and stood feeding at 35 yards. After 5 minutes of watching this, I decided that we can always use venison in the freezer, and as long as I make a good shot on her, she can't make it back into the timber and I can get her out with minimal disturbance. Everything went according to plan. I double-lunged her and she didn't make it 25 yards from where I shot her. Got her far away from where I shot her and field dressed her, and today saw fresh big buck tracks on the property, so I don't think I spooked anything too bad. Like I said, I had every intention to NOT shoot a doe, but she gave me a great shot opportunity that I couldn't pass up and we will definitely use the venison. It is also nice because I had some troubles with the bow last year and even practicing the week before season my shooting wasn't where I felt it should be, so whacking 2 does early on has sure helped to boost my confidence for when Ol' Freaknasty walks out. I'm definitely proud of her, and this is my best start to an archery season in my whole hunting career(11 years archery), I've taken 2 deer in the first two weekends of the season. Usually I don't have the opportunity to harvest 1 deer much before Mid-November, so I'm hoping the good fortune continues for the rest of the season. Here is a picture... Where my site is, is the exit hole, the entrance hole is about 1 inch closer to the front shoulder on the other side. The Muzzy 3 blade sure did it's job. Rem308
Good job! I have went out and planned on waiting for a buck before, but things changed quick when the fever hits w/ a big doe coming in. And right on about the confidence booster, it's good all around. Way to go.
