BowJoe
I have a question that I've been wondering about for a few years now but every time I get on here, I forget to ask. Here goes; How far do ya'll walk to get to your stands both with and without being on a guided/filming hunt? I know that here in Illinois, we walk anywhere from 100yds to a mile or more if need be. stevebeilgard
i do what's necessary for the animal. i know whitetail outfitters who drop off the hunters with a tractor. it seems the animals are used to farm tractors and pay no attention. in wyoming, i often hunt oil fields where the animals see pickups going by 100 times a day. they are used to that. if i walk, i'm out of place and they will see me so i drive. if i'm hunting in the wilderness, horses may be the vehicle. i also have blinds within 200 yards of walking paths and close to homes. these animals are used to human smell, sounds, etc so walking is normal to them. our golf course allows you to hunt antelope on it. although i've never done it, some hunters play golf with a bow in the cart. the antelope allow you to walk within 5 yards often, 20 yards every time. so, put away your 9 iron and grab you bow when the big boy in walking nearby. my point, of course, is to do what's normal for where you hunt. if it's quiet woods, sneak in. if you're 100 yards from an interstate drive a cadillac in. you get the picture.
