You are the one who has to live with yourself and your decisions. If you believe that you did the right thing, then stick to your choice. A fellow mans life is more important than a pay raise, and I feel for your Sgt., if he has no remorse that could put a fellow trooper in danger. To me you exemplify the meaning of a soldier. As a soldier you have to trust the man next to you, and he the same. You just keep doing good work over there and keep your values the same, and you will be just fine.
