carbonhunter
Re: Help find a Winchester Model 12? [ QUOTE ] Fairley easy to find, depending on condition cost varies from $300-$1500. A good shootin gun would cost somewhere between $400 and $600. A show piece would cost you over $1000. I would check out Ebay. Good Luck, I hope you can find one, you'll have to post some pics. [/ QUOTE ] that is pretty much the price range right there. 12's here is a list of some model 12's and it shows the price range pretty well. You can find field models that are kinda beat up for as little as 300 bucks. A pigon grade gun on the other hand could cost you over three grand

AJ
Re: Help find a Winchester Model 12? [ QUOTE ] Do any of you know if there is a difference? Did something change mid-production of this model that would make a difference? [/ QUOTE ] Winchester produced more than two million model 12s over 70 years. It was dropped from standard production in 1963, but remained available on custom order until 1980. Winchester had a great gun in the model 12. It was very expensive to make. It used the best steels available for that time. Their "quality at all costs" approach eventually proved the Model 12's downfall, however, as it collided with the reality of modern-day labor costs and manufacturing methods. Finally, in the late 1960s, the Model 12 was deemed too costly to keep in production. Attempts were later made to reduce its cost of manufacture, and limited sales of originaltype guns were offered through the custom shop. You want a pre 64 gun. Be careful if you find a Pigeon grade gun as there are a lot of fakes out there.
