As far as broadheads go, it sounds like you're looking for something like the Magnus Snuffer or the Nap Razorcaps.

I've been shooting Montec G5's for a long time now and get great performance with them out of my bows. Like John said though...you're going to get a lot of different answers to that question.

I use easton powerflight 400's and muzzy 4 blades. The 3 blades are a great broadhead, there is really no need to switch. They are cheap, simple and very tough. I have seen the damage that a muzzy 3 blade broadhead will do to a deer ( ask Sureshot about what they did to one of his deer he shot this year...it was unbelievable!) I know there are better arrows out there than the powerflights but they are well priced so that is why I shoot them. Another great and well priced arrow from easton are the epics and they penetrate very well.

I shoot 28" Axis 400 arrows out of a 60lb switchback XT, I have used the Muzzy MX4 and Slick Tricks. Both shoot well, the slick trick is more compact than the muzzy mx4. I have always used muzzy 4blades but wanted to try something different this year and tried the slick tricks with the 1" cutting diameter. These are the only 2 broadheads that I have experience with and would go to the woods with either one and feel confident.

I have really enjoyed the Magnus line of broadheads. I've used them for two years. The leave a great hole and have excellent penetration. I would recommend you take a look at them.

Magnus are definately a good broadhead, as are so many others. My opinion, backed up by a lot of reading and talking to experienced bowhunters is that the best penetrating broadheads are 2 blade, tanto tipped, single bevel to match the helical of your feathers/vanes.

A decent, well built, heavy carbon arrow is the Carbon Express Heritage, 10 grains per inch. Then glue in a heavy brass insert, either 50 or 100 grain. Couple that with a decent 100, 125, on up broadhead and you will have a highly penetrative arrow.

You will lose speed. The mass of the arrow makes up for that.

If you have the time please check out Dr. Ashby's works - http://www.tradgang.com/ashby/
