As far as trail camera’s go, I own three different types:

Cabela’s Outfitter with view finder – This is a good camera, but it fails to keep the correct time and date and the battery life is not as good as I would like. This is a flash type camera cost was $200.00 on sale and uses 6 D batteries.

Bushnell Trophy Cam – this a neet little camera only 4X6 inches and runs off 8 AA Lithium batteries they claim that a set of these batteries will last 1 year. The camera takes good pictures in daylight but the night IR pictures are a little dark. Cost of this unit was $229.00.

Moultrie I50 – I think this is the best of the bunch takes great pictures in daylight and the nighttime IR pictures are not to bad. Battery life is GREAT put this camera out in early August and still showing 65% battery life after LOTS of pictures. The only down side with this camera is that it needs a lot of daylight or you get the black and white IR pictures, but over all this camera is my favorite.

I have had a Cuddy Back Excite and it only worked for about 2 months then failed and all that I have read about the new Capture cameras are not really positive. For my money the Moultire I50 is the best choice.

Good Luck,

Dennis

PS - If the attached picture is visible this came from the Moultire I50.

The moultrie IR cameras are the best I have dealt with. They have great battery life, and as far as mechanical problems with the cameras they back them up. I had a display going out on a camera about 3 weeks ago, so I sent it back and recieved a brand new camera within 2 weeks. Pretty good cameras and great customer service.

I hate to say negative things about them but I have had problems with Cuddebacks. Problems with 2 different cameras and problems with customer service getting them fixed. I now own a few Moultrie 5.0 cameras and have nothing but good things to say about them. Great pics, both day and night. And I have three of them out right now that have been in the field for 4 months now and they still have nearly 70% battery life. I will add a couple more Moultrie's to my "arsenal" next year.
