Turkeygirl
Guys...I need therapy after this...oh my gosh, the last 24 hours have been nuts. Ok so this is almost embarrassing...I don't know what happened, but it happened. So last night, my bow is all set, all sighted in, ready to take out some deer. I strapped my release and arm guard around the string, so I wouldn't forget it. Well then I changed the peep sight tubing, forgot what was strapped on the string when I pulled back. Well I come back in my bedroom, see my wrist strap is caught under a cam...great...So I pull back to shake it out and POP!!!:death: String pops off the cam...omg!:poke: Well Andy does his own bow stuff so he knows al ittle more then me, I scream down to him in the basement. I'm thinking ok, forget the opener, I'll be going to the shop in the AM. Well he takes down the weight, he is able to push the limbs down enough that we get the string off (the one with my peep sight and nock on it) but can't get it back on the cam. Well the shop I like to go to is closed by now, it's 7pm..but I remember another shop..I call them, they are open till 9pm! So I change out of my bed time clothes ,jump in the car and drive down to the shop. they put the string back on in like 30 seconds...they have 20 yards indoor range...I shoot, everything seems to still be on, whew! Only thing now is my peep and nock use to be straight, now they twist to the right a little bit....it straightens out when I come to draw...just don't know why it changed. So I get home, eat dinner, watch tv, go to bed. Well we get up this morning andh ead out to our stands. It got light out a littler earlier than Andy said so we got in kinda late and what do ya know, 4 -5 deer out in the field eating. So we had no choice but to run them off. I get to my stand...get settled in, hang my bow, sit down, look to my right and there is a deer standing 30 yards out staring my way...it turned and took a couple bounds, but didn't seem to spooked...it wasn't full daylight out yet so it must have seen me, but not too bad. Andy did see a small buck. We get home at 10...I just went out to shoot my bow again at all the yardages and check...everything seems to be hitting alright. I come in and I get to play nurse...Andy rolled his ankle slipping down the hill by the chicken coop...heard a "pop"...yadda yadda...I look at it...just a sprain...if anything was broken...he wouldn't be able to walk on it. So know he's icing it. All this while mom left to go pick up some Amish. I hope the afternoon and evening goes a little more normally,lol!:stupid::bang::wacko::clown:
BowJoe
If his ankle swells and he can't walk on it then he could have easily chipped one of the many bones in the foot. I wouldn't go relying solely on opinion when an xray can tell for sure. No knock on your nursing skills but I'd monitor it carefully. Thank goodness everything worked out for you though. Sounds like a really eventful day to say the least.
wyohunter
just tell him to drag that leg if he needs to, get out there and hunt glad your bow issues are fixed...good luck
Turkeygirl
Oh yeah..I know how the bones make up the ankle and what not...makes total sense...I'm watching him...obviously if we start to see alot of bruising, swelling, etc...may be more than just a sprain...but from the looks of it and what he described...sounds like a sprain...I'm not a Dr. though...lol

Tink
Ruth Hi Ruth Sorry to learn all of this Always place yoru release around the small throat of you grip handle on yoru riser that was when you ready to shoot you dont loose yoru release i have never seen release wear out they are always lost I have had 100 of guys come in to my shop when i had them in VA MD & LA ....looking for a release.Mid season.... I always asked them "Did you go and loose your release again?" 99% of the time Yep the dog had it, kids were playing with it, I left it on the roof of my truck, Hung it on a limb,b in the tree, I thought i put it in my bowcase... Ruth I still have my Fletch hunter concho I used in South Africa in 1980 and lost it going under a fence year later I went back and found laying in the sand The bright African Sun had faded the anodize so its 1/2 tan and 1/2 brown Eight years later I used it to shoot a Bull Elephant and I still have it. Hope Sunday is better your # 1 Fan TINK NATHAN
Adjam5
I'd have to agree Ruth...that would be a pretty unnerving set of circumstances for me. Glad you hung in there, got out of the hole and went hunting. Hope Andy gets to feeling better soon.
