I have used them both more expierience with the 3 blade i have taken several deer always had great blood trails. I switched to the two blade this year out of curiosity shot one deer a buck had an awesome hole and the deer only went about 75 yards but blood trail was not great i didnt find blood until about 10 yards from the deer and the arrow was almost clean. the shot was rite through the lungs just above the heart. the deer only lived about 10 seconds but again blood trail was almost non existent. To be fair though its possible i was not walking the same line as the deer took however i thought that i was

Shot a 5-point with a 2-blade Rage, shot him right in the shoulder and the broadhead went through the shoulder and exited behind the opposite shoulder. Total, complete devastation with a nice blood trail that lasted 40 yards. I was very impressed with the toughness of this head, it's been sharpened and back in my quiver.

I'm right there with you all. Been wondering the same thing. Pic below is from a 2 blade RM Gator XP (about the same thing as the rage 2 bade). The broadhead made a 2 inch slice through the heart. Found the deer about 100 yards from the shot spot. Found it 10 minutes after the shot - very dead! However, I never did find a blood trail. At first I thought the failing light may have been why, but after reading these posts I think there just wasn't one. There was blood all over where it fell, but nothing to lead me to it??? I'm sticking with the 2 blade for now though. I may try the 3 blade after reading stories about them here on the forums.

i couldnt find ne blood til i got about 20 yds from the deer

Guys, it's fairly common for a deer not to bleed for the first 15-20 yds. That has nothing to do with the broadhead. I'm sure you've cut yourself deep somewhere at some point in time. You have a few seconds before the blood starts coming. Same concept with deer.

Bghunter, of course you're not gonna find a blood trail if you weren't following where the deer went after it was shot!:p You'd know if you were following the deer's trail after it was lung shot with a Rage 2.

I can't imagine the wound from a two blade closing up before the deer dies. I won't be switching from a two blade any time soon.

Besides, I had a bad experience with a 3 blade last year. It doesn't get enough penetration.

You will actually get better penetration with the 3 blade vs the 2 blade. The smaller cutting diameter (3blade) encounters less resistance than the larger cutting diameter(2 blade). They prove it out on their commercials, as well.

I've seen the studies and heard the testimonies. I'm sure it could be true, but the one time I did use this head, I wasn't happy with its performance.

you wont get a hold closed up with your 2 blade's, sounds like a freak accident, not sure why, but I have shot and seen several deer shot with rage 2 blade and the smalled hole I have see is a 1.5in entrance hole, when one blade folded over after skippin of a rock. I think maybe you just god a funny impact or something, give them one more try.

are you shooting a mathews with fixed blades? i have a mathews feathermax and when i purchased it the bow tech told me i couldnt shoot fixed blades with the mathews as it would not fly straight. i ended up bying spitfire expandables and i dont like the way they go into the quiver. they open when you put them in. can a fixed blade be shot with these bows? im at about 67lbs with the bow and at a range i want to say it said i was shooting around 285 fps. this bow is atleast 7 years old(when ever the first mathews feathermax came out) thanks for any insite, and i am new to this realtree sight, so i dont know if i have to re type this as a question to get answers from other members or not

You can shoot fixed blades with a Mathews. You just got to tune them right like any other broadhead and shoot them before hunting. Go get you some fixed blades.

I'm shooting the trophyridge meatseekers right now a 2 blade there pretty sweet haven't shot a deer with them yet but plan on it.

Buddy shot one there Thursday wtih them Rage 2 blades and loved it. Ton of blood and it tore the deer up.

2 blade vs. 3 blade rage

I live in Fulton County, Illlinois. Deer here get big and get fat. My biggest weighed in over 310 pounds. I've put 31 deer in the freezer and have yet to have one bleed excessively. Most have sprinkled blood here and there, but none have gone more than 100 yards. I think too many people think every deer they should bleed like stuck hogs. Well, that just doesnt' happen. Ray's 10 pointer cleared a 40 acre corn field after being shot through the heart with a Bear fixed blade and he found maybe 10 drops of blood across that field.

As far as the 2 blade Rage bh it's proven itself to the point it has been deemed better the Rage 3 blade. VA absolutely swears by the 2 blade and after he and his buddies dropped 16 deer in one year I'm not going to contest his attitude.
