arrow32
Freaking crap I noticed on my way to my moms this evening my car was acting up thought well hoped that it was nothing. Then I go out tonight after we eat dinner and what not to go to a buddies hows to pick up a couple things. Well guess what it wouldn't start. Now I'm running around thinking what the heck am I going to do.LOL We worked on it tonight but nothing. Going to go and see what more we can figure out tomorrow after I get out of class. Dang I hope this don't hurt the wallet to bad. It couldn't be worse timing its the second week of bow season. Thank God the ruts not hot and heavy. buckee
I hope the problem is minor repairs Cody. What was it doing that tipped you off that something was wrong, before it actually wouldn't start? Is it turning over?
Airman312
that's a bummer...even when it's not hunting season- hopfully it will be a cheap fix
arrow32
Steve it was trying to. But on my way to my moms it was wanting to shut off as if not getting gas. I think the fuel pump might have went bad. I don't know. Airman312 not hunting season? BOW SEASON IS IN!

Jeramie
Check your lines and filter Cody. Hope it is just something minor. What kind of car? Yep, thats what I was going to suggest too. Check that filter first and change it. While youre under there keep the line loose and turn on the key to see if your pump is working (as long as it has electonic fuel injection). Youll know in about .02 seconds if your pump is out and it doesnt hurt to change your fuel filter. Fuel + Fire + Air makes for a happy car. FalconerKitty
I hope you have a good mechanic. Could be several things. My cousin has a great website: www.motorwatch.com. Very informative. Good luck and hope it's not too expensive. Take care of your vehicle, so it can take care of you.
arrow32
We are William. Got it home today. It started thank God. Has a pretty bad miss tho. No idea why. Were going ahead and putting a new fuel filter on it.
MichiganHunter
I wonder if with the miss fire if it might be a bad injector...just thinking out loud.
SchuLace
Check all the plugs and wires if it still misfires.
Jeramie
Check all the plugs and wires if it still misfires. Thats exactly where I was heading next. A fouled plug can cause it to run like crap! Check the plugs and wires. One way is to start the car and pull off plug wires. Every time you pull one off the car should run rougher. Replace that wire and go to the next. If you pull a wire and the car doesnt change the way it idles then youve found the problem. It will be either that plug or wire... hutchies
Fuel + Fire + Air makes for a happy car. That used to make for a happy car............Now it computer, fuel, fire, air, sensors, and good lord knows what else:gun1:
hutchies
Make, Model, Year will help...............tell us those and we can help you troubleshoot. Sounds to me like fuel. Like Jeramie said I would pull the filter and turn key. It may just be the filter on the fuel pump stopping up or you may have got some gas with water in it. Jeramie
That used to make for a happy car............Now it computer, fuel, fire, air, sensors, and good lord knows what else:gun1: True that! It could be an O2 Sensor!
hutchies
One thing I forgot to mention is if it isn't the fuel I would be willing to bet depending on the make model that the EGR valve may need to be cleaned or replaced.
redkneck
You got a CEL on? The code scanner is your best friend for most stuff these days. I got one and it paid for itself fast. Most fuel filters today are designed basically to run forever, unless you get some gas with a lot of crap in it. Pretty easy to do a fuel pressure test, but scanners really work great. Jeramie
Sounds to me like something is going out like the O2 Sensor. You may try to clean it with Carb cleaner if it happens again...

Acting like my moms jeep did when her's went out dad said.
Ethan Givan
It sounds like a fuel pump going out to me. Mine went out a few months ago. My truck kinda did the same things you were talking about. I replaced it myself which was a real pain lol. wasnt cheap either...cost me almost $400 for the new pump:jaw:. Hopefully your problem will be a cheaper and easier fix though.

Could have been a clogged filter or bad gas Cody. Had filters on both our yukon and my 3/4 ton truck clog about the same time here a couple years ago. Pretty sure we got bad gas from a station, also had issues with our tiller and the 4 wheeler a while later on. Station I suspect we got the bad gas from was closed down a short while later.
