tp793
I've been noticing the different types of tags on the deer everyone has been shooting and wondering if there was any reason to that? Ohio still has the ones that you need to tie on with string or a zip tie, which I personally can't stand...always worried about it falling off. It has happened before where I've been dragging a deer out and had to go back searching for my tag because the dang thing fell off on the drag out, and man is that annoying. It looks like some of you guys have tags that are adhesive tags, and those things look sweet. Wish Ohio would come around to the sticky tags. Ohio used to have the sticky tags, don't know why they went to the tie type. You can do what we do if you're afraid of losing your tag. Tag the deer's ear, then roll the tag up and stuff it in the deer's ear (inside), then take the string and wrap it around the outside of the deer's ear. I've never seen a lost tag using this trick. Thanks to Ohiobucks for that one.
backwoods07
Our gun tags are the adhesive tags, but for archery we have to zip tie em to the animal. We put the anterless tags zip tied to the deer's achilles. There's no way to lose one of those bad boys.
hunter83
Here in KY, we went to not even having to attach a physical tag unless it leaves your possesion (i.e. Processor, Giveing it to someone, Taxidermist, Hauling in someone elses vehicle, etc..). We do have to fill out a harvest log on the back of our hunting license or deer permit before we move the animal though. Our deer permits entitle you to 2 deer, either one antlered and one antlerless or 2 antlerless deer. We can then purchase Bonus tags which is for 2 antlerless deer. When we harvest a deer we just have to phone it in on and automated check in line. And fill out a harvest log with a confirmation # that is given at the time of the call. I wish that we did still have the mandatory phyisical tags because I believe that it keeps someone honest. I have talked to people that have been able to slip by and not tag an animal and take more than their allowed. Seems to me that is unfair, and obviously unlawful. Allbeit, in the "zone" that I hunt in we can continue to buy as many bonus tags as we would like, but some I guess can't seem to just put up the extra $20 for them. wtnhunt
Temporary kill tags here I always have just placed the tag on the antler wrapped with a plastic tie wrap for bucks, does wrap the tag around the leg. Usually hunt landowner, our first tags for the season are issued at the check in station, so we would not have a tag for the deer until checking it in. This year we have gone to having the option of internet checking, guess we can print our permanent kill tag off of the computer.
arrow32
We got the same crappy tie on tags. There a pain in the butt. I'm like you man always afraid I'm going to loose the thing while dragging out or something.
Jeramie
I have a lifetime in Oklahoma. I dont even use a paper tag. I have a little metal tag I made (like a dog tag) with my Lic. Number, address, name, etc on it. I zip tie that to the animals leg and im good to go.
fly
Why? I would think money would be the answer. I imagine Sticky tags are going to cost more which is why states are getting away from them.
