layin on the smackdown
THIS IS NOT ME OR MY DEER....this is what i know. Got this pic from my boss at the preserve. Evidently this buck was taken in Ogle Co, IL just north of Byron...The only part of the story i know is the guy in the pic sat in another guys stand who hunts the same farm...that guy wasn't planning on hunting that stand for another week and a half due to the fact that he knew this giant was in the area...needles to say, the guy who didn't want to hunt the stand is livid...i can't use the words he said in the email...lol...Oh well, you snooze you lose i guess...guessing he'll go 215-220...He was taken saturday evening 10/17 Edited October 21, 2009 by layin on the smackdown

Stone Cold
That is the problem redkneck! All the outfitters are moving here too and it is tougher to get a spot to hunt unless you own your own land. I can not wait to own. One day I will though. The biggest MONSTER I saw so far this year is that little 4 pointer I posted a while back. LOL

Rhino
Awesome buck!!! I'll bet there's going to be a little discussion between the guy that owns and hung the stand and that guy. Sounds like the guy in the pic didn't have permission to hunt the other guy's stand but we don't know what the hunting arrangements are between the people hunting that farm. redkneck
Well I'm pretty content where I am I guess, our little area (4 counties or so) usually comes up with a few in the 170's each year. There's plenty of studs over on the river, I just never get over there to hunt, though I should.

fly
That deer came from Ohio! He had the swine flu and became disoriented. Walked/swam to IL all the way! No way do we have deer like that in IL anymore! Outfitters go to Ohio!
layin on the smackdown
Here is a link from Prairie State Outdoors that has some more pictures and the story about this deer. http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/hunting/article/nate_campbells_29-pointer/# I aint buying it....his story just doesnt' jive with the empty hearted dude who actually new this deer was there... here is the email from the owner of the stand... " Done bow hunting. I have been chasing this deer for past 2 years on "north farm" another guy that hunts there sat in my stand Saturday evening and shot this. I am sick. I did not plan to hunt that area for two more weeks as I knew he was there. I have seen him probably 3 times in the past 2 years once at night. He looked like this last year but not quite as massive.. This buck was harvested Saturday night. From my stand." that says it all...shooter is full of BS...he got lucky...we as hunters like to hear the whole story, and from this, i feel the only real story we are getting is from the owner of the stand....not the shooter.... regardless, its a BEAUTIFUL BUCK!!!!! Just upset we don't get the whole story...jmo
