Jeramie
Bar the fact that I was raised on a beef ranch out in the boonies. Bar the fact that I was hunting, working on cars, cutting wood, stacking feed, driving farm trucks, mowing grass, etc. from the time I could walk....I just dont get kids today?! Seriously, I thought a MAN was suppose to have callius, dry hands, the occasional cut or scrape, and a cool demeanor?! Guys were suppose to know how to fix stuff, be strong enough to open jars, and be able to sweep his woman off her feet.... Now today.. sheesh. These kids do good to get out of the house with half of their underwear covered, they couldnt scrap their way out of a wet paper bag, they have bangs (yes I said it, the boys have bangs) and more hair care products than my wife. Their role models would have had their rears kicked in my highschool for being a panzy. I know the metrosexual look was a thing for a while but this is really going overboard! Ill be glad when this emo/ rock glam/ "my pants are to big to walk down the street but I look cool" phase is over! We have failed our youth Horribly! Ok.... end of rant. Icons of my generation Icons Of Todays Generation Do not adjust your monitor! Yes, these are guys....

I must be different.LOL Clint Eastwood and John Wayne are the best my role models:D:D Got to tell you there ain't nothing like working I love it. This pass summer I was doing some 60 hour weeks between mowing, landing scaping with my cousin, and working at Wendy's. Talk about killer. That stunk!!LOL

dartonman
I am so feeling this conversation....I was helping the 8th grade PE class shoot bows with my son, and well....the boys couldnt pull back a 15 lb bow, and whined the whole time......I was amazed on how they have no upper body strength....and they whined., if I had whined like that at that age, my dad would of backhanded me......my son shot great though...extremely strong..but he is made to stack wood, and mow yards, and haul stuff for grandparents by hand....al
okiedog
...extremely strong..but he is made to stack wood, and mow yards, and haul stuff for grandparents by hand....al I love it!:toot: Not enough of that anymore it seems. bluelund79
Deal with them on a daily basis and listen to how they talk to adults...If I ever hear either of my sons talk like that, we will go out back to the wood shed....My parents raised me correctly, I will honor them by doing the same with my boys. I can't wait to move down south again and waaaaay away from stupidity....Moosa, Moosa...
Hoosierbuck
My 2 year old was out with me yesterday helping fill wheelbarrows with dirt with his little steel shovel. My 6 year old loves to stack firewood (althought he reaaly should wait until it hits the ground from being split before he runs in there to get it!). My 8 year old GIRL can out-wrestle all the third grade and most of the fourth and fifth. I am NOT going have those type of sissies in my house. Period. Texan_Til_I_Die
...Their role models would have had their rears kicked in my highschool for being a panzy...Too true. I see it all the time with my friend's kids. I look at some 17 or 18 year old guy who's 3 or 4 inches taller than me and probably outweighs me and there is no doubt in my mind that he's dead meat if he ever grew a set and bowed up at me....and I'm 50!!! Really sad.
hutchies
Classic...............I have to see this crap everyday. Hard to find good people that want to work anymore when hiring people. They want $20 an hour to do a $8 an hour job because their parents always told them not to settle for less or that they were worth more than that. Even though they don't even know how to run a push mower. Nobody wants to work their way up anymore. They want to start at the top.

Tominator
Agree and disagree to an extent. I work with these kids for half the year, and I can attest that there's still some roughnecks around, but there are a lot of pansies too. America has built itself to a high standard of living, now our children are reaping the benefits of that. A couple "benefits" that are killing America is food, continually, at the fingertips, and time saving utilities that allow us to sit on our tails all day. The_Kat
When I went to my old high school and student taught I could see a huge difference in just 4 short years how things had changed. LOL, I was in Zanesville, OH and drove by some very young kids on the side of the street and honked at em. HAHAHAHA, they turned around and started flipping us the bird and yelling obsenities. I'm talking lil 7-8 year olds talking worse than me.
DocMort
I am in between generations I guess being 24, I love Die hard, was raised on the Duke, and anything with Clint I will watch. You should see it in todays Army, panzies can't do a push up but they all about the regulations to get them out of it. Wish they would have went to my highschool where the only thing to do in the summer was throw hay bales and cut firewood for the winter. wtnhunt
All a matter of what they are exposed. My oldest(13) does a lot of outside chores, we do have this small farm, think it is good for kids giving them something to do and letting them learn responsibility. She has friends that live in town that sit inside all day and watch tv with little to no parental supervision, explains so much. What kind of role models do gets get with the crap that in on tv nowadays. btw Jeramie(cough cough newbie), congratulations there bud. buckee
Yes we have failed our youth Horribly! And it's not just parents either. There are so many outside influences today that either didn't exist 40 years ago, or were taboo back then. Technology has not exactly been a blessing to our Families or our children for the most part. The whole world is going wonky

stevebeilgard
i'm ashamed, and afraid, of our younger generation. i can still outperform them today, and i'm mid '60's. i hope there is not another war, as i think we're doomed if we actually have to fight.
