Ground blinds are not my thing for hunting deer. I use one for my kids and I could see their use in areas without trees for stands. Perhaps in late winter hunter when the temps drop they could help to keep you more comfortable especially from the wind. For me I like to be mobile and from my experience a blind has to be up for at least a couple weeks or deer will likely be spooked by it. Having a blind up for an extended time means someone might steal it or the weather might damage it. For me there are just too many drawbacks given the areas I hunt. If I had 200 acres of my own land I'd be more inclined to use one.

The one I use is the Primos ground max escape. It was about 100 bucks and seems to be holding up well after using it for turkeys this past spring and after using it during the October youth season.

I hunt out of a ground blind a lot. In fact, on my property I've had more success out of my blind than any one of my treestands. Not saying it's simply beacuse of the blind, because it isn't, but I really like hunting out of them.

I've used Ameristep Dog house blinds, and they've been great! Ameristep makes nice blinds. I bought a new Yukon Tracks/Rivers Edge blind that is nice too! I've seen those one man chair blinds, and for a gun hunter they might not be too bad in certain spots, but I'd just bring a seat and find a natural cover spot to hunt I think before I'd buy one of them, bowhunting in a blind like that is absolutely out of the question. I strictly bowhunt, so I need bowhunter friendly blinds.

If you are going to buy a blind, buy a blind. For a first timer I'd recommend an Ameristep Doghouse, or an affordable hub-style blind beacuse they are so easy to set up and take down. I leave mine out from mid summer to about early January and they've held up great, the winters here beat em up so I bring em in. They keep ya out of the wind and rain for the most part, and I've had great experience with em. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

with money being tight alan, you can just duck in some brush... as long as your back is covered well, and you have shooting lanes... dont tuck in so tight you cant shoot from it... a folding chair is easy to carry in the field, and keeps you comfy ( for sitting long hours as still as possible ) and off the cold ground. many a deer has been taken from someone in a ground blind... yes being off the ground is better, but do you have $100 bucks or more at this time to pay for one

We have a blind or two set up around the farm. I think being in a tree definitely gives you an advantage. You're out of the deer's normal line of sight. If you have to go with a blind, be sure you're able to bowhunt out of it! A lot of blinds on the market are made with the gun hunter in mind. Be sure there is ample room to draw your bow and the windows are big enough for your arrow to clear.
