Hey folks,

Can anyone tell me about the .308 Norma Mag? AJ, can you give me some info about it? I am looking to get a custom gun made, from a Ruger Number 1. I want a kinda of unique caliber. I am looking at the .257 Weatherby Mag, but want something that will take all North American game. I also looked at the .35 Whelen. The .308 Norma Mag looks very intresting though, can i get some info on it? What caliber would you folks suggest that i can take all North American game with, that is unique? Thanks

Re: .308 Norma Mag.

Its basically a .338 Win Mag necked down to .308". It is a slightly shorter case than the .300 Win Mag with slightly slower velocities. Basically, its close enough for government work to a .300 Win Mag.

How about a 338/06 A-Square? It will do anything in USA +, it is a factory cartridge, loaded by Weatherby, its a sweet round.

Re: .308 Norma Mag.

How unique do you want?? "Unique" usually translate to "expensive to shoot". smirk.gif

How about the 8mm Remington Magnum?? Unique and ammo is fairly available. The .358 Norma is unique and kills well. The .358 Shooting Times Alaskan is very unique and packs a BIG wallop. The .338 RUM isn't real unique, but will kill a lot of stuff. The .375 Weatherby can be fire-formed easily from .375 H&H brass. It's a big hammer. There's lots of choices. wink.gif
