Cold vs Flu symptoms

I usually don't post stuff like this, but there was a lot of stuff I was wrong about.

Colds usually have no fever associated with it, while the flu it is common in 80% of cases and usually over 100 degrees

A non productive or mucus free cough is usually the flu, mucus type coughs are usually just a cold

Stuffy noses are usually not the flu but a common cold and sneezing is not common to the flu either

Headaches are common with the flu, whereas not so much with a common cold

same with sore throats, not common with the flu, but the cold, yes

Don't know Ken, but the fever thing is surely a concern with the flu and is likely with the flu. The flu can also weaken your immune system so that other problems/symptoms come out or appear, would not assume if you have a sore throat or are sneezing that it is not the flu. Both our older daughters had sinus infection type symptoms going on while they had the flu.

My girlfriend has H1 right now. She called me yesterday before I went into work and said she had a sore throat and chills. She went to the doctor and they ran a test which came back positive for influenza A. He told her that at this time of the year he was 95% positive it is swine flu. She didn't start having symtoms until yesterday, and I haven't seen her since wednesday. She's a middle school teacher, so its not too much of a surprise. I'm just wondering if I have it.
