Jeramie
I have no idea... That is a good question though. My neice had to pass up a buck because she didnt have a good shot. It has both advantages and dis-advantages....
maddhunter
Since when did youth hunters start being allowed to harvest bucks during the special youth season? Last year. They also can buy other tags for regular rifle season if they fill them in the youth season. They also can use them for regular rifle if they don't fill them. The deer they harvest in the youth gun season still counts toward the total season count.
The_Kat
Well as long as they are still only being allowed to take two bucks in one season it works out well then. I was thinkn it might be a bonus buck and it raised a concern for me.

The_Kat
nope because bonus tags are on regulated properties. But if it was statewide then I'd not like it one bit. Jeramie I agree with the point restriction....but it's hard to get over the whole telling a kid he can't shoot that spike cause he ain't big enough. My vote would go to earn a buck! maddhunter
As far as I am concerned I have earned every buck I will ever take. for the twenty years I have killed atleast 4 does every season. I feal I deserve to kill only MONSTER BUCKS. but of coarse I do take one doe to collect pee every year but I let Cole. I think the poit restriction is a good idea if they limit it to adult hunters and youth's second buck.
Jeramie
I agree... they shouldnt regulate youth. However, the rest of the seasons should be regulated. If a youth goes out during regular season they should abide by the same rules. Imagine the earn a buck program. You get out for the first time during ML'er and a 140" buck walks through and you have to pass it.... Ouch....

Not everyone harvests does like they should. The earn a buck would MAKE them. It would balance out the deer ratio FAST! The only ones I see that it would hurt as far as having big boy walk by would be bowhunters. It's not hard to take a doe with a ML'er or a rifle. We quit shooting does on the property that we rifle and Black Powder hunt 3 years ago and are seeing more big bucks now than in the last ten years. We tsake 2 doe between the 4 of us. But that's just one 400 acre spot that we only hunt for those 2 seasons. After rifle season it's open season everywhere else. We all (OKIES) need to have a get-together up in Zone 2 and put some does in the freezer !!!!!!!!
