KirkV
Thats right, this morning I had a 2 1/2 year old 8 point at 15 yards and he never knew I was there. He milled around for a couple of minutes and wandered off. Always neat when you know they are yours but you practice QDM! Now bring on the big boys. 6sixpoint_nobrows
better than i did, i saw a cat and some idiot wondering around the woods. ugh i was so ticked. i agree though thats a good feeling when you can just relax and watch without having the urge to shoot a young one. nothing beats the rush you get from that big boy! Randy
I'd like that to happen tonight with a 5 1/2 year old. Except the let him walk part....
ruttinbuc
Always a confidence builder when you have them close and they don't have a clue. I am waiting on the big boy to show here.
Tony
just one 8 point at 15 yards? lol:) i had Two 8s and a 10 all under 12 yards. the one 8 was 130 class and the 10 was probably 140ish. it is cool to have them come in and watch them walk. i never get tired of being able to fool a few of them. Tominator
I had a button do that last week, but I have yet to see a set of antlers from the stand this year. Been skunked more times than I care to admit. It's getting aggravating, but I digress....

arrow32
Thats always nice. Wish I could see some good bone while in stand this season just hasn't been happening yet.
hungry hunter
I had a good 10 and 8 at five yards the other morning, but i chose to stop the truck before they became hood ornaments and did some serious damage. Does that count as QDM?
Straight Shooter
I had bucks opening week here in NC under my stand, got video on my cell phone to prove it.:clown: It is great to practice QDM but stinks when the season is over and your "buckless"; thinking whether or not you should have taken that 15 yard shot.

I did that last year. I really want to get a buck this year now even more than last:D
JimT
I have had some tough luck as well. A nice four point at seven yards and a much better buck, and eight, at about fifteen and got busted both times. Thats hunting from the ground I guess....... For example I had a neat 8 pointer (well 10 actually cause of the kickers of his g-2) at 15 yards last year....he came in to my rattling and decoy. Oh and I have it all on video...but I let him walk because I thought he will be neat in a year or 2....... Then this winter shed hunting I found this... Oh well just part of the challenge of producing mature bucks....
arrow32
Hate to see a great buck laying dead like that but it happens all the time.
wtnhunt
Cool experiences Kirk. Have not had an 8 point under me yet this year, but have had a couple different 1.5 year old bucks including one just last night that offered some great shot opportunities. Shot him with the camera. Shot a lot of video last year and ended up not taking a deer myself, with what we are getting pics of this year looks like maybe it could pay off for one of us here. Too bad about that deer you found Todd, have passed a few here that I know got whacked.
6sixpoint_nobrows
so.....did you shoot the cat or the idiot???? haha lol neither just got down out of my stand and when i did he was gone. i just moved to another stand across a couple ridges. didnt see anything the rest of the day. as for the dead buck yeah thats tough, i had a simiar feeling this past fall, i had this young basket rack six point that a got on trail cam all summer long and come fall he would come by my stand almost every time i hunted last season. he looked to have good ginetics and had a good body on him. i let him walk by and grew to expect to see him every time i hunted this property. season came to a close and shed hunting came and driving out to the property to go shed hunting i saw a dead deer so i pulled over, sure enough it was him i was pretty bummed. just part of it i guess.
