LOL...the ones I own.

.270, .50ML, and .30-.30

2 deer last year with the 270 blew both of them off their feet stone dead @ over 260yds....2 other deer last year died with the .50ML @ under 40yds with the same result.

Only thing I can reccomend is that you find out what the generally accepted limitations are for a particular caliber based on others opinions and research...then adjust your choice to the type of terrain and distance you will ussually hunt, your shooting abilities, and any physical limitations you may have.

Wow I am amazed, it seems that the 270 is the most popular (I figured it would be 30 06).

I shoot the 270 and or a 30 30

I believe it would be the 30-06 if you asked people what caliber they would use overall for North American Big Game;)

But yeah it looks like people like the .270 for deer sized game.

My old faithful is my Ruger M77 MkII stainless with the old "skeleton" composite stock in 7mm Rem Mag. She cries if I use something else come deer season. We worked up a new load firing Hornady 162gr. SSTs otherwise my favorite factory load was the Classic Hornady 175gr. interlocks. When you pull the trigger, the fat lady sings.

Elk, deer, antelope and whatever else: I shoot 150gr. Hornady Customs or Remington Cor-Lokt PSP through my Winchester Model 70 .30-06 with Team Realtree 3-9x40 Nikon scope. Dumps deer and antelope in their tracks and my 2006 elk (Hornady bullet/borrowed Rem. .30-06) didn't go too far.

P.S. That combo also does a number on jack rabbits too. :D
