johnf
What does the class cost in your state? Depends on the teacher here I did mine for $50 but they average $100-150 What does the license cost? $144.25. Renewing is $50 How long is it good for? 5 years. Is there a minimum caliber to qualify with/carry? Not here Are there different licenses for different guns? We have a revolver license and a non-restricted (any legal handgun) If you qualify with a simi-auto you can carry anything if you qualify with a revolver or singleshot you can only carry a revolver or single shot (derringer) Is there a limit to the amount of guns you can carry with your license? Not here, carry as many as you can afford.

toddyboman
Here is what I paid and did for the class I took. Class was $75 or $80. It was a one day all day class. I had to qualify with a revolver and semi-auto. The instructor said we could shoot any caliber we wanted....Some shot .22 cal, 9mm and 380. As long as you passed your shooting and written test you was then cleared to go the sheriff of the county you lived in for the background check, which cost a $100. Licenses cost..was $15 or $20 is good for 3 years. I think that is what I paid....

bearcat
In North Carolina the class was $35.00. The class was in two parts. One Saturday was spent in a classroom learning all of the laws and about handguns, handgun safety, do's and don'ts etc. The next Saturday was spent at the Range qualifying. The next step was to go to the clerk of courts and get a copy of criminal history this cost $15.00. Then had to take certificate for class and criminal history records to Sheriffs office and fill out a big application for them. Then had to give the Sheriffs office $90.00 for the application. The grand total cost was $140.00 plus all of the gas for going to the class, shooting range, court house and sheriffs office. After all of this it took 54 days for them to check me out thouroghly and give me my permit. The permit is good for 5 years and renewal is another $90.00 to the Sheriffs office. The renewal has to be applied for at least 60 days before permit expires.
hunterbobb
I live in Wisconsin one of only two states that does not allow concealed carry. Our Govenor vetoed it twice. I hope we can get rid of the Democrates in next years election. :gun2:

I often carry my 45 on my hip out in the open. Nobody cares and its perfectly legal.

TN Bucknasty
Our state legislature narrowly voted down open carry last year  Do a lot of people carry open carry there? Not really. People always think I'm a cop or something because its unusual. That's not a bad thing though because the local thugs start to behave themselves when I'm around. If it ever gets voted on again, I'm sure that they'll vote it down here, too.
Buckeye54
I believe "open carry" is "legal everywhere due to the second amendment. I know in Ohio, it is legal to open carry a firearm. In the town I live, there used to be a day every year, can't remember what day, a whole bunch of people would walk through downtown with a sidearm. The law has become increasingly creative though, and will often times arrest someone for disturbing the peace, inciting panic, or being a public nuisance. If you even look like you're going to remove your weapon from your holster, they can also get you for brandishing. Concealed carry is a lot easier 'cause no one knows. SchuLace
SD was $10 ( I think) for the application. No class. They did a background check and I got my permit in the mail. I don't remember how long is good for.
bowana
Michigan requires Prints, Background check, NRA certified safety course-requires class room and range time (I think I paid $125)......then afterwards....you must appear in front of a gun board. If everything goes well, permit (whole process costs about $225). Michigan has an extensive lists of prohibited areas and carry issues. Most are common sense. We can't carry in bars, churches, federal and state offices and schools or businesses that have a visible sign prohibiting it on the front door. I've yet to see one of those signs.
