stevebeilgard
wow. all you should need is an inspection by the appraiser saying it is worth what he said it was worth. or the bank. either one should be done within hours.

Exactly! Trouble is, nobody at the bank can give us an answer. I'm in limbo. I have to be out of my apartment tomorrow night, and I have movers coming tomorrow morning. Not many surprises because I've been there almost everyday since we broke ground. Congratulations, here's your home, but you can't move in. Bank is holding it up again. :hammer1: Zero communication. Nobody can tell us if they've checked the house out yet or not, so we wait. At least they're consistent. They delayed the start, now they're delaying the move in. I can't win. That stinks Chris, but at least they are done with your house, they got it together fairly quick. Hope you are able to get in soon. Won't be having any issues with the bank here thankfully. Contractor and his help started decking our roof yesterday, high winds and severe thunderstorms will likely keep them from finishing up today and our floors and basement will likely take yet another soaking. Tominator
Another update: Turns out the bank did make it out and they denied the final draw saying the concrete apron on the garage was not poured. I had agreed with the contractor to not pour the concrete until later because of the weather. My contractor has scheduled the pad to be poured Monday. So now I'm kind of in limbo with no place to stay until they inspect it again. :hammer1:

Yeah, unfortunately, it's looking to put your visit in jeoparday bud, I'm sorry. We'll see what happens, but all of this I have learned from experience with this bank is it takes a week to do anything. So if the pad is poured Monday, how long will it take for the bank to come out and look at it, and then how long before they get the papers signed and faxed? At least a week, if history repeats itself. :hammer1:
stevebeilgard
chris, see if the bank & your contractor will escrow some money until the concrete is poured. ie: if the concrete is worth $1,000.00, escrow $1500.00 with a simple escrow that says when it's poured and finished, the contractor gets his money. we do it all the time. that way you can still get kyle to come "hunting"...lol remember, i'm old & experienced. i know kyle is really coming to move furniture. Guess after seeing your troubles with the bank, really glad we got our money on the front end and I am directly controlling the draws to my contractor from my money market. Only thing that will hold us up when we get close to being done is our final inspects with the building and electrical inspectors.
Tominator
Quote Only thing that will hold us up when we get close to being done is our final inspects with the building and electrical inspectors. The county held us up at least 2 weeks in this process (which is exactly what my contractor told me). Once for framing when they said the garage window needed a doubled header because it was weight bearing, even though it wasn't. They failed us a couple times on electrical too. One fail on the electrical was the breaker panel was written in pencil and not pen.

Tominator
Latest update: Long story short, our builder went to bat for us. They basically did what Steve suggested I do. My builder went to the corporate office and pretty much demanded we get occupancy. The bank agreed to let us move in if we escrowed the concrete money, so that's what happened. I got a call late Saturday night as I was just about to leave the house. He informed me that it was basically BS what the bank was doing to us and told me to go ahead and move in Saturday. So, that's what I've been doing since Saturday. We moved out of the apartment Saturday, and I painted and arranged a lot of things Sunday. It sure is nice being in our new place, but there's a lot of work to be done as far as decorating, and painting. Couple that with the rut kicking in. I told my wife I'm hunting the next 2 weeks. Full selfish mode, I deserve it, lol. (I don't think she realizes the work I put into this house, she got a glimpse when I rolled through all my voicemails on my phone the other day, which is but a fraction of all the calls I've been taking and making over the last few months.) I'm going to have limited internet availability until we get the DSL hooked up, but that's up to my wife, I'm done with scheduling anything for the next few weeks. Adjam5
Man...what a rocky road you've traveled. Go have some fun Chris and live a little. The work will be there I am sure of it . "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". So get in the woods...even IF there are no more BIG deer in Ohio:clown:. A small buck might be in order this season. Enjoy the new home and the ability now, to shoot out the window. God Bless your new home.
RangerClay
I bought my house during hunting season. I would come home from school/work and then climb into a treestand. Sunset was about 5pm. I would eat dinner then work for 3-4 hours. Give that a try. Hope everything works properly and everyone is happy. Be sure to post some pics when you get a chance.
