Thanks again everyone! Here's the story behind this buck..

So it was a spur of the moment idea for me to go out hunting Sunday night. I was getting my garage cleaned up and getting all my toys winterized when a buddy calls me and said he saw a big buck chase'n a doe out through a picked corn field. Well thats all it took for me to take a quick shower and camo up. As I'm leaving my house i grab the video camera and camera arm and throw it in the truck, I figured what the heck if I don't take it whatever but atleast its there. So as im drivin I call my buddy and say hey would you wanna shoot some film tonight? He said yea swing by and I will just hop in with you. As were pullin up to park i decided I was gonna pull a drag rag with Tinks 69 doe estrus on it. We get all the stuff lugged up the tree and finally get set up about 4pm. Lil late to get out if you ask me but like they say you cant kill em sittin at home. So were sittin there about about 45 min later a doe comes about 60 yards from downwind sticks here nose up in the air and got real skitish and wandered off. She didnt bolt but she didnt like somthin. So were sittin there some more and its about time to climb down, we had about 10min of legal shooting light left when this 11pt steps out about 80 yards upwind. He gets to where i pulled my drag rag and takes up the trail hard. Not running but it was a brisk walk to light jog. As he gets to the end of the trail i grunted to stop him. He stops dead in his tracks and I let the Hoyt, Beman ICS hunters, and Muzzy eat! The hit sounded good and everything seemed to go as planed. Remember I said I had a camera man with me... Yea well the camera didn't pick it up because of the low light conditions and well my camera is decent its no pro. camera. Needles to say I didn't get the hunt on film. So about a half hour goes by before I decided to climb down. We pack everything up and I decided to find my arrow and mark the spot where the deer was and head back to the truck. As we were walking back to the truck it started to sprinkle I told my buddy this light sprinkle is ok.... theres a nice blood trail we shouldnt have much of a problem recovering this buck. We head back to my house to give the buck some time and get my dad to come out and enjoy the experience with us. As we are pulling back in it starts raining fairly decent and my dad said you better just leave him overnight and come back tomorrow and find him. But me being the excited one wouldn't go for that. Well like always I should of listened to my ol' man haha. We had good blood at the sight of the shot and for about 200 yards, where we believe the buck had bedded down, and my dad stated once again that we shouldn't go any further. So as we get to the end of a finger of timber, the buck had crossed the road which looked like someone had take a paint can and dumped it out over the road. I figured the buck was hurt decent enough that he wouldnt try to jump the barbwire fence. We found 3 different spots where the buck had thought about jumping but kept changing his mind and would go down the fence further. Finally he decided to jump the fence. No biggie right... Well I don't have permission to be on the property he went on and had no idea who owned it. I can't even tell you how i felt at that min. I thought this buck was gone for good, and someone else would find him. I get a call from my girlfriend Tuesday at about 2:15pm and she says hey they found your buck. I was like what the heck are you talking about? Come to find out my girlfriends dad knows the guy who farms the property and he called him, said that I had shot a nice buck and the direction that we had last trailed him to. So she gives me the guys number. I almost hung up on my girlfriend cuz I was so excited. I call him and he says "hey Matt can you tell me a lil about what happend I think I have your deer here. I told him and he said alright buddy come pick up your deer, I will have it down at the farm for you." I grabbed my knife and bolted out the door. I get there thank the guy a million times, and offer to help him if he needs any help tracking a deer or anything of the sort. Talk about an honest great guy! So I guess you could say this just isn't my deer, but everyone involved. I dunno if there on the forms here but I just want to give them all a big thank you again for helping me recover this deer. Now it's time to go to wally world and buy some more tags cuz the rut is just gettin started here!! Wow now that I have typed half of a book lol :hammer1:

Hunt safe everyone! I almost forgot.. Thanks Tink!! :)
