Tony Smotherman
Time to roll out again! I am washing clothes as I type this entry and my wife, Misty, is heading to the tire store in the morning to get some news shoes put on my travel truck. It is time to chase an elk in the Wyoming mountains. I'm going on a late season elk hunt with my new CVA Apex .50 caliber muzzleloader. I know this is not the choice elk hunt that everyone thinks of as the rut is over and the bugling is almost non-existent, but I have done this hunt before and the bulls are all back together which makes for some pretty good hunting. I hope the weather stays descent and the famed Wyoming winds stay under hurricane status. Wish a Realtree brother luck! coles
You never know. you might still hear some bugles. We heard bulls bugling all 9 days we were in the back country last november! Had them bugling 100 yards from our tent some nights. Even had video of a monster 7x7 bull bugling while he was lookin over his herd of close to 350 animals! Good luck to ya. Hope ya kill a big sucker!

billkay
Tony asked me to post this for him. Apparently he missed an opportunity on this same bull yesterday. The 6x6 bull was shot about 8 miles up a the mountain range. They were going back this morning to get it out. He missed this bull the previous day but got him last nite at about 240 yards. He says they started out the hunt in four feet of snow.
