Hard to say goodbye...

So I just told him I would see him later. Sure enjoyed the short visit with my son on his very short leave. Did not get to spend as much time as I wanted but I knew I had to share him with everyone else. We saw him off this afternoon as he headed back to A-school getting ready for the nuclear sub he will be on. He is stationed in Groton, Ct. for now.

goodby's are always tough, norm. i'm sorry for your pain, but i'm happy he's serving his country. heck, so are you. congrats to him, and i'm glad he's there.

that said, i've been in a tight cockpit before but you'd have to kill me to put me down in a sub. i need the sky above me and light. i just don't know how anyone can be under the water. i don't even like being on the water, much less under it. he has my respect.

I remember those days Norm, but I was the one leaving. My dad was never one for mushy scenes, but when I left for boot camp, I hugged and kissed my mom, and threw out my hand to shake with my dad before I left but he said "no, I get a hug..." and he gave me a big bear hug before I left that day.

Tugs at your heart strings for sure.
