Norm Sauceman
So I just told him I would see him later. Sure enjoyed the short visit with my son on his very short leave. Did not get to spend as much time as I wanted but I knew I had to share him with everyone else. We saw him off this afternoon as he headed back to A-school getting ready for the nuclear sub he will be on. He is stationed in Groton, Ct. for now. stevebeilgard
goodby's are always tough, norm. i'm sorry for your pain, but i'm happy he's serving his country. heck, so are you. congrats to him, and i'm glad he's there. that said, i've been in a tight cockpit before but you'd have to kill me to put me down in a sub. i need the sky above me and light. i just don't know how anyone can be under the water. i don't even like being on the water, much less under it. he has my respect. SpcNape
Sometimes I don't know if it's harder to be on your end or on his. I'll give him his props, anyone who will get in a sub has more cahones than me!

ryan1990
I remember how that short visit between Basic and AIT was on my dad. Its harder on the Dad than on the son. He will be so busy, doin so much cool stuff he wont have time to be sad or miss anyone. Thats how it was for me. anyway. Thank you for supporting your sons decision to serve

Master_Chief
After 23 years of serving in the Navy I can't imagine leaving again. Tell him thanks, hang in there and the #1 thing I learned: Use your ears more than your mouth. I am sure he will do fine.

Tominator
I remember those days Norm, but I was the one leaving. My dad was never one for mushy scenes, but when I left for boot camp, I hugged and kissed my mom, and threw out my hand to shake with my dad before I left but he said "no, I get a hug..." and he gave me a big bear hug before I left that day. Tugs at your heart strings for sure.
