ryan1990
So there is this girl, named Bonnie, who me and my girlfriend have known since jr high. Her and my girlfriend were real close friends but I dont really know her all that well. Well Bonnie is getting married and today my girl says "Oh, you are going to be my date for Bonnies wedding btw" I said, "Ok when is it?". "Nov. 21st".......Im sure those of you from OK can see the conflict. So I said "Yeah well thats opening day of rifle season so actually, no Im not" So long story short she is really ticked off and says "Glad hunting is more important than me" :bang: lol. I told her, sorry you're mad but I ain't gonna budge on this one. Deer season, the time of the year when I say "You keep your relationship, Im goin huntin":gunsmilie:

coles
lol. you might have read my thread about deciding whether or not to skip my cousins wedding. Well i decided to skip the wedding and go hunting on opening day. Didnt see much out hunting but sure was better than sitting at a wedding! She will get over it. Trust me. RangerClay
Stand your ground! If she cannot handle it, dump her. My wife tried something like that our first year together. I made it clear that I was not giving up an entire weekend of deer hunting when we only got 3 weekends to hunt deer in the southern tier. 18 years later she knows to leave me alone during deer season unless it is something truely important. doubledrop
that sounds very familiar here. my wife informed me that we have a wedding on december 5th, little did she know this is shotgun season. i told her i wasnt going to be able to make it and guess what.....end of story she knows how i feel about deer hunting so she backs off 100 %
buckee
I've missed quite a few opening days of bow season due to weddings. Seems like everyone likes to get married the last week in August. I sure wouldn't want to make a habit of it, but a little sacrifice on both sides, isn't a bad thing. A happy relationship requires sacrifices. You both just have to decide on who should make the sacrifice this time.
Jeramie
Stand your ground... Sounds horrible but its true. I flex and bend for my wife when I can, however, make it a habbit and they start to expect youll jump when they say jump. Its not a rude thing but dont give up who you are for anything. Thats something that is VERY hard to get back.
Alisha
Bah! Forget the wedding, go hunting! Like everyone else said, she'll get over it and if she doesn't.. tell her to hit the road!
Squirrelhunter91
HAHA I would've done the same thing! Nov 21st is our rifle opener here in NY as well
joeaveragehunter
At first I am questioning your view of the big picture, but then I thought... I wouldn't go to my best friends wedding on opening day. Cause any normal decent person doesn't do anything important during hunting season. layin on the smackdown
I feel bad for the guy getting married...he is obviously marrying someone that doesn't understand the importance of November...now he has to deal with it every year from this point on....its a sad day for him indeed... On another note, my lady wouldn't have even considered asking me to go to a wedding in November...she's alot smarter than that.
Ashley
Your GF must not be a hunter, huh? Truthfully, I'd probably skip a wedding for opening day, too. It's the best day of the season...
MichiganHunter
AT A BOY....LOL....I ditched a girl at home coming dance for opening day of bow season the next day....My girlfirend of now almost 2 years got SUPER mad at me last gun seson (our first hunting season together) I'm about 7hrs away from her, so we dont see eachother much and she got MAAAAD when I made the 7hr drive each weekend of gun season and then was gone 1hr 45min before sunrise and back 1-2hrs after dark and just went stright to bed after...lol....DONT worry, she'll get over it...I have sense explained to here that she is NOT NOT NOT to ask me to do anythig durring hunting season...she's ok with it now...cause my plans are made and wont be changed. swohiodave
We are planning our wedding date and when she asked me about a date i said there are two seasons. I do not care as long as it falls in "not hunting season".
