ChasinTail
Bow season just ended here this week. I passed on a few spikes and does and was looking forward to next week's muzzleloader season, which has always been a great time to find a nice buck in the past. Assuming I would not hunt for a week was disappointing but then came along a fellow realtree forum user inviting me to Georgia for a hunt. We hunted Friday night through Sat night. No movement Friday. A doe was shot Sat morning. Then, on Saturday nite, a six point walked out about 5pm. I watched him feed about thirty yards away (8 points or better at this club) and finally watched him disappear into the thick stuff. 6:30 came and I caught movement of a big doe working down towards me. I told my buddy on a text I was gonna watch her until she got ready to disappear and take her. About that time, an 8 point came trotting across the opening with his head down, running at the doe. I knew they both would be gone in a matter of seconds so I threw up my old 30-30 and made my first ever running shot. He fell down in a swamp about a 100 yards out! What a great hunt I wasn't even expecting!
