dryer problem

If the barrel won't move it is probably just a belt that runs it.

I am very lucky my husband and Randy take things apart and can fix just about anything. My dryer did that and it was the pulley wheel that runs the belt. I called the company and they wanted $50. for a new pulley. My husband went to the local farm store and bought a brass one for $11.Now it works great!

There are just a few screws that hold dryers together. Maybe you could just open it up and have a look at it.

The loud noise could have been the belt breaking.

Does the motor run? If not, could be a wiring problem or a bad motor. We just replaced our dryer, had planned to wait until we got in our new house, but the heating element in the 16 year old kenmore finally went completely out. Could have fixed the old one, but figure the new one will likely pay for itself in a couple years since it is way more energy efficient.
