danthehuntinman
This is the 9 point I shot on Wednesday. The only reason I only have his head is we didn't find him on Wednesday evening. I ended up finding him on Thursday morning and the coyotes had ate my deer. We stopped looking for him about 15 to 20 yrds from where I found him. I shot him with a rage 2 and only found 15 to 20 drops of blood which were really small. I will try them on one more deer and if they do that again I won't be using them anymore. I shot him quartering to me I caught his one lung and liver. He came in chasing a doe when I shot him. There was a goofy racked 6 point that came in I was going to shoot till I saw him on the right away. The 6 point doesn't have very good genectics thats the only reason I was going to shoot him. He's 2.5 and is about 8 inches wide and almost touches on top not what a person would want running around. My bow got stuck on the bow hanger when I saw the 6 point coming I guess that was a good thing that it did cause if not then I probably would have got him instead. Sorry for the long post. Slash
Nice deer, congrats on the kill. Ashley told me a story about a buck she shot one time and that exact same thing happened, it's unfortunate you lose all that good meat to scavengers. congrats again. danthehuntinman
Yeah we have to do some predator control on my farm here and the one I hunt in Ohio. We have been seeing alot of coyotes on the property out there. Last year I saw a couple bobcats here and a couple big coyotes. I guess one thing I found it hes not sticking up the area where he died. ruttinbuc
Yes, you have to get them quick anymore. Coyotes are bad enough. We have had bears dragging deer off around here lately. Glad you at least got the nice headgear this guy carried!
RangerClay
Congrats! How far did he travel after you shot him?
danthehuntinman
He was probably 115 yrds from my treestand but total he ran about 250 to 300 yrds. He ran out the hill after I shot him and he came back the same way and across the right away and through a little patch of woods and died in the edge of the thicket. Half way or a little less is where we lost the blood from him.
