Tony
havent had one of these days in a long time. i went hunting this morning and heres the events that followed. i got up at 330 am, showered and dressed in traveling clothes and left for the truck. then i realised i forgot my cell phone. so i go back up stairs and get it. stopped at the local gas station to get a cup of coffee. i spilled it all over the counter and the guy there who is a bowhunter said dont sweat it ill clean it up. so i get another cup of coffee and a breakfast pizza slice and get on the road. i no sooner get out of town when a stinking buck comes running out of a cornfield. i hit the brakes and spilled my coffee on me. luckily it just my traveling clothes and the coffees not real hot.:hammer1: after the buck incedent, im now carefull and i see 3 other bucks and 4 does on the road. i stop in Bevington to get another cup of coffee and get back on the road. i dont know what the guy there thought, but im sure he was laughing at me, cause i had a wet spot in my lower area.:clown: i get to dougs and i start dressing in my hunting clothes and everything goes with out a hitch. untill im going over my gear before i leave for the stand and now i cant find my binos. i look in my pack and all over the back of the truck, but cant find them. so i look inside the truck and i find them in the side door. i put them in my pack, lock the door and then i remember i left my cell phone in the truck. so i get it back out. i am only wearing my underwear top to the stand, cause it feels kind of warm. i slowly start the up hill climb to the stand path and i stop a lot so i dont get overheated. as i get to my stand i hook up my bow to my haul up rope and my glove gets pinched in the carabiner and when i try to get it loose, i drop my bow.:clown: but its ok. finally i start climbing up the climbing stick and it creaks every so often. so i slowly tighten each strap on the way up. i get into the stand and its creaking badly each time i shift my weight. it was fine on sunday. i hang my pack and haul up my bow and then sit down to cool off. the stand still creaks with each time i move. so i know i have to fix the problem before it gets light. i know what is causing it and i slowly with a knife remove the bark away from the stand pegs that are dug into the tree. now i want to say, that yes i had my safety harness on and i was on the climbing stick while i did this. once i get the bark thats rubbing against the pegs cleared, i check both ratchet straps and there both tight. so i climb inot my stand and sit there cooling off. the stand is now quiet and i can move a little and it doesnt make any noise. once i sit there, i realise i want to change gloves. figuring the ones i was wearing wear a little sweaty. so i get out my backup pair. while i was taking my right glove off, i dropped it. i said no biggie, i have a second pair im going to put on, guess what i dropped that one as well and you know which one it was. the other right glove.:hammer1: so im sitting there in the dark with 2 left hand gloves and this perplexed look on my face . so i unhook the harness, hook up to my climbing line and climb down. i find both gloves and they are laying on top of each other. i climb back up and i sit there kind of laughing at myself. i put the other glove on, store my first set and the rest of the day goes off without a hitch. i sure hope i dont have another morning like this one. im glad i like to be in my stand at least an hour and a half before legal shooting light, which is 1/2 hour before sunrise here. ever had a day like this? Rhino
Sure have Tony :clown: My personal best on dropping items out of a tree is 3...you only made it to 2. Fixing a noisy stand in the dark...been there. Spilling coffee been there too...not twice though. There's sure been days when I was wondering if Murphy's law should have been called Rhino's law. sskybnd
sounds like my day sat tony but you ought to try it in a climbing stand, go up the tree and as i was bending over to bring the bow up my hat falls to the ground, bring the bow up and put it on the hanger, down the tree i go to get the hat. back up the tree, i reach into my pack to get the range finder out for when it gets light i can range a few spots, i take it out of it holder and set it down and my knee hit the holder and down it goes, back down and up im 25 ft getting tired of up and down than i had my flash light in my back pocket when i go to sit down out it pops and down, i just said forget it i'l leave it there, some times when thing seem to go wrong they seem to add up dont they

Predator
Also with a climber, it's always fun to find after fully setting up, last step to bring the bow up and you forgot to tie the stand end of the rope to the stand and you look down to see your bow with a nice coil of rope next to it. GWSmith
LOL...and my Wife wonders why I buy seconds and thirds of stuff...it's so I can stash one here and there all over me, my pack, my truck, my garage, so when the inevitable happens I end up having what I need!!! My most memorable was when I forgot a treestand I wanted to take with me so I went out to the garage and got it, walked through the house and grabbed another cup of coffee, and got in the truck and took off for the property. A couple blocks away I realized that I must have stepped in one of my Dogs landmines on the way out to the garage so I went back home to change boots. Took off the boots on the front porch, opened the front door to my house and realized there were spots(every other step) from the mishap all over the carpet when I walked back through the house. At that point I just set the keys to the truck down on the coffee table and took my hat off...grabbed the 409 and the paper towels. My Wife woke up hearing my mumbling and grumbling over the events and in her infinite wisdom decided to remind me that I mentioned just days earlier about "Moving the cable run for the Dog and if I had done that I would'nt be on my knees having so much fun right now". Knowing she was right I couldnt even say anything back so I just grunted like I was scrubbing the carpet harder.
Bowsonly
Funny story there Tony...lol I've done similiar...yesterday I get to the tree I want to get in and realize I forgot my strap for the upper part of my climber stand, the one that secures it to the tree..So out with the rope to tie it up.. One time I dropped a glove in the dead of winter when I was in VA, and of course I had to get it...I ended up tying one of the screw in tree hooks to a line and fished for the glove for about 20 min before hookin it...
