Randy
Loooonnngg day. This morning I had a button buck under my stand. That's it! LOL Went back out at 1pm and saw my first buck at 1:56. Second at 2:20pm. Around 4:15 I had a fork horn and a monster 10 pointer at 34 yards and couldn't get him to stop in an opening for a shot. I believe it's the same ten pointer i had video of from July. I'm not sure he'll make 150" but he not far from it. I saw one other small buck for a total of five this afternoon. Here's the problem: I can't seem to get William in the right tree at the right time! I'd love to send this one home with him! Maybe tomorrow??? wtnhunt
Looking promising, just a matter of time. Randy's buddy Mike did see a nice buck cut across the field with another smaller buck. Had to have been the bucks I heard cracking antlers together pushing around below me just out of my view shortly after getting into the stand. Did see a couple deer yesterday morning, one looked like it had a good body, could not see its head. Afternoon was a long sit in the wind, things looked pretty good when a doe bedded beside me. No bucks until right at dark, had one not quite to his ears 6 or 8 walk under me. Did draw on him and put the pin on him, just to see if I could get a shot under the limb to my left, he never had a clue I was there. Hoped to have another buck close behind, but that was it for me last night.

wtnhunt
Saw a shooter this morning. Thought I was going to get a shot on him. Bumped deer out on the way in again. Had a deer come back while I was climbing up the ladder. About 5 minutes after in the stand had a little buck under me. Shortly after light had a nearly ear width 1.5 year old 7 pointer come through along the edge of the corn and he passed through at about 20 yards. About 8:30 had movement in the corn a little further along angling away from me. Grunted a few times and he kept going, I could see his antlers over the corn when he raised his head up and knew I better get ready. Got a pretty good look at him and knew he was a shooter, think he was probably a 3.5 year old, just past his ears with good solid beams, and looked like 5 points on the right side. He came out of the corn about 44 yards from me. Did everything I could trying to get him to come back, grunted and hit the can call and then grunted again and he did stop and he turned and looked back and instead of coming back towards me he angled into the corn and went back the direction he came from, thought he might circle back around but I lost him in the corn. Too bad he didn't follow the same path as the other deer. Did have a young 6 pointer come through a little while later following the edge of the corn, also had a 20 yard shot on him. Little while later the same 7 pointer I had seen earlier came back on my downwind side and walked past offering another shot on him. If only that mature buck had walked along the corn the same as the other 2 bucks I would have had a shot on him. Maybe this afternoon. wtnhunt
I'd have to agree with Chris. Throw a Snort Wheeze at him. After seeing the bucks response and with talking with Randy about how it went, not so sure the snort wheeze would have helped either. Was probably a 3.5 year old, I probably screwed up by grunting more, good chance the buck knows there are 4.5 and 5.5 and he did not want a fight. Will keep the snort weeze in mind for sure though. Did see what I think was the same 6 pointer from yesterday morning, he had one side busted off last night. Heard what I thought was a fight after the wind died down some across the corn, that was after seeing the 6 come through. Still a lot of corn in and the deer seem to be staying in it. Pretty windy this morning, pines were swaying pretty good, only saw a button buck all morning.

Randy
Yesterday was a tough day. Not much moving here at all. It was very windy and warm, hopefully that got the corn to dry a bit and the farmers will get out and pick a couple cornfields that are holding a few of the big bucks. It's supposed to be near record highs of 66 degrees here today. I'm putting William in a stand over a water tank. I figure they have to come out of the cornfield to drink sometime. It looks like Willliam is going to have to earn a buck this year, things have just been tough and I feel bad because it is NOT a normal year as far as buck movement. He's hunted very hard and we're down to a couple days to get it done. Good luck today bud!
