col3
Went out tonight to a new spot, havent hunted it at all this year yet, wih only four days left in the manitoba bow season i was gonna shoot anything, so i grunted and rattled , nothing, i had rattled about 4 sequences when i finally saw some movement, but the deer came out from the wrong direction and winded me, so i figured 'what the heck, il try a snort wheeze", and he stopped in his tracks and started coming in, in comes a dadny 10 point, he was acting real aggresive and after a few grunts he cam in bow range, i had a 30 yard shot at his vitals after what felt like an eternity at full draw, i let him have it and the shot looked and sounded good. He ran off and i went back to my truck to call my dad. We waited close to an hour, but because the coyotes are bad around here, we went in looking, we found some blood and my arrow about 60 yards from where i shot at him, complete pass through, bubbles on it and everything. There was a blood trail about 8 inches wide, and two big beds full of blood. But after the second bed the blood seemed to just dissapear, after the huge blood trail with bubbles in it, we figured we'd find him... But now we have backed out, and we are gonna go back in the morning, any opinions on what happened? did we blow it by going in, think we will find him in the morning? Sorry about the long post, i just really want to find this guy. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks.

layin on the smackdown
Welcome to the forums!!! If you got bubbles, he aint far...thats all i can tell you. I bet he is there and he is down. If you really want to recover that animal, why wait til morning when you know you have good blood? Sounds like a good double lung shot. If i were you, i'd have a few friends over and go get him now...but thats only if you really think you got a good hit on him. if the shot was good, and you had good blood, he's down. what i don't understand is why he is still alive after an hour? The only thing i can think of is maybe you just clipped one lung. If thats the case, they can go for a long time on one lung...and if that is the case, then yes, definitely wait til morning. Whatever you do, good luck, and keep us posted!
col3
yeah the blood was pretty decent, but the way that it just stopped we figured it was best to pull out, thanks for the feedback though
layin on the smackdown
is there any chance you hit him a little further back than what you initially thought? Was he quartering to you just a bit? I am asking because he should have been dead after about 5 minutes of a double lung shot, and i am seriously wondering if you clipped one lung and the liver...If you did, he'll be dead by morning...I just hope you can get back on the blood trail, and that the yotes don't tear him up... col3
Chances are i did only clip one lung, it was a complete broadsie shot, 30 yards, but right behind where his liver is there was a tree.. so if i hit him far back.. i woulda hit the tree, the only thing my crew can think of is a single lung hit, or i hit him alittle low
jdavis
It's possible you may have hit him a little low, they will bleed like crazy at first and then just stop. But with bubbles in the blood I would think you definitely hit one lung, which would mean he is probably not going to be too far. And if you did hit low and got one lung the blood should stop. Tough call though, hate to wait and have the yotes get him but you don't want to push him either.
col3
yeah i went out to look this morning, got to where i got last night, he had bedded down and there was lots of blood, but i guess when we went in looking he got up, and there is only two very little drops of blood , still doesnt make sense how he seems to of dissapeared after such a promsing blood trail
tp793
I've had the same thing happen to me. Don't want to rain on your parade, but I never found my deer either and it sounds like the exact same thing. Massive blood trail and giant pools of blood. Searched for three days for him and never did find him. Hopefully your story ends better than mine did. Good luck finding him.
layin on the smackdown
Get someone with a lab and go find him...if you had bubbles he is dead...that hard part is finding him. If you bumped him once, he shouldn't be too far. Get all your buddies and start grid searching. You can't give up yet, not after finding that kind of blood. Good luck
