MNhunterr
Well boys, only 3 days until Rifle season starts here in MN!!! All Minnesotans and others are welcome to share their experiences/kills/stories!! I just went and got a new scope and over/unders on my good ole' 30-30. The weather is shaping up to be very warm all weekend, not good for me because there is more than likely going to be a S/SW wind making it terrible for our stand locactions. My big brother has seen a big 8 and 9 on our property in the last 2 weeks while bow hunting. The rut has finally kicked in, deer every where in central MN. The amount of corn that is still left standing and it is going to be impossible for some of us to hunt with it still standing. Luckily for me, the farmer got the corn out of the field from our property and there isn't too much around us, making the deer come to us for food. Share, share, share!! Tom2008
Guns????? Whats that??? Haven't gun hunted for 2 years now. Would of been out with the bow that day, but WI odds are better at the moment. Good luck to all. I'll get some pictures up of some family harvests after weekend. MNcrittergittr
Yeah, the deer have been moving good lately. My dad scored big time on a nice mid-day buck last Sunday. Was such a great hunt! My brother and I were so happy for my dad, it's his nicest buck to date. A beautiful 175 lb 8 pointer. We even got everything taken care of in time to watch the Vikings spank the packers too! We've been seeing a lot of deer on their feet, lots of does and some real good bucks! Activity is picking up big time! I'm RUT PUMPED!!!!!!!!! I haven't hunted with a gun in a while, I strictly bow hunt now but good luck to all the rifle and slug hunters hittin' the woods this weekend. GREAT time to be in the woods! Good luck out there! Missed160
Tomorrow will be a loooooooong day at work. This weekend my son will be deer hunting for the first time, can't wait till he gets one! It will be too warm for me, but it doesn't seem to have slowed the deer down yet, I think we will have majot rut activity going on! Good Luck everyone, be safe

MNcrittergittr
I was telling my brother I don't ever remember it being as warm as it was for firearms opener! I took a lot of time off this month to hunt the rut as much as I could. I only work Tuesday and Thursday this week alone. Last Friday was crazy, LOTS of deer moving, bucks bird doggin' does all over. Saturday morning was a little slower for us, but Saturday evening was more eventful. I got out to my blind at about 2:30, saw a few does just passing through, then a fawn came in alone and browsed around for a while and left, then came back and bed down. At about 4:00 the fawn got up and started milling around my blind. About that time I could see a big body through the brush walking a trail about 60 yards in front of me. I grabbed my grunt and did a small sequence. I never got the deer I was watching to come any closer, but about 5 minutes after I grunted I noticed the fawn (that was still there) look behind her. Then I heard it...Buurp, Buurp, Baaap, I could hear leaves crunch right outside the blind behind me and a buck grunting like crazy steadily walking in. Well you guys know the feeling, my heart starts pounding, my legs start to feel funny and I am pumped! I barely peeked out the left window and saw a brute of a 8 pointer walking in. I immediatley drew my bow and waited for him to step into view, I was just about to grunt to stop him and he stopped on his own. I got a great 15 yard braodside shot and put it where it counts! I was so excited!!! I called my dad and brother to let em know, and while we were following the blood trail (that went toward my brother) he had a monster chasing does and all kinds of deer around him. Then that night we got a trail pic of a MONSTER so hopefully my brother can close the deal on a nice one. My dad got a nice 8 pointer last weekend too, so it's been a great season so far. Here are a few pics.
