Bowtech_archer07
I went down to Decatur PD today to schedule my internship. I will be spending 11 weeks and 2 days on patrol, split up between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, majority of time being on 2nd and 3rds. I know it's going to be tiring and a lot of work as I have to keep a journal of everything that happens and meet with the professional standards LT once per week to make sure that I haven't seen anything that has messed me up in the head like homicidal or suicidal stuff or any bad things like that. From January 11 through the end of the month i'll be on 1st shifts then splitting up 2nd and 3rd shifts throughout the next 9 weeks with a day in adult detective, a day in juvenile detective and a day in dispatch mixed in near the end, in the beginning of April. The best part of the whole thing is that I'll be done before turkey season!!!:D:D J/K The best part is that I'll get a ton of experience on the job doing something that I have always wanted to do and that I have spent the last 3.5 years studying to do. Also, I'll be testing there in late April, hopefully having this internship will help me out and maybe get hired on there in the future. I'll be sure to keep y'all updated. It will help you out. Becoming a CPO in IL is a very hard task and having that bachelor's will help you out. I would recommend having a major/minor combo in biology or something else related to the outdoors and law enforcement. Good luck. Also, thanks everyone!!
