conversation overheard on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai . It's too good not to pass along..

The conversation went like this...

Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'

Air Defense Radar: (no response .... total silence)

God bless our troops.

Lots of the Marines I know don't like to admit the ties to the Navy, and like your acronym, at least one has said, "We just used the squids for a ride to the fight!"

I am just typing what I have heard-never been in the service so I have no particular allegiance to one branch, just the country they all serve. So...don't scream at me Navy guys.

well dnt get me wrogn i would never join the navy or the army or air force. ive seen first hand the difference in trainging and the mentality that marines hold. theres a reason we're first to fight, and last ones out, the president 911 call. every other branch needs an act of congress to go the marines just need a phone call from the big chief himself, always ready and always faithful. i signed my name to the best.sorry if i went to far with that. and thank you
