More about Trespassers

The trespasser thread had me thinking...

We've had a few people trespass last year. And actually they walked right past me and basically laughed at me and said they could be where ever they wanted.

I hunt some by myself and while I have my bow or gun with me, I also carry Mace. If something were to happen like that again and I felt threatened by the trespassers and I used my mace, would I get in trouble for that?

I'm just wondering really, I would rather pull out the cell and call the law, but they can't always arrive on time...

Mace is non-leathal and I can't imagine you getting in trouble for it...you're protecting yourself and your property.

I always have mace on me...whether it's to go to church, the store, or clubbing. I've never had a problem carrying it (okay, i take that back...DON'T take mace into a courthouse...they don't like that....)

I really can't imagine you getting in trouble for having and using mace...it's not like you need a license to carry mace :)

Speaking from 23 years law enforcement experience -

DO NOT USE MACE OR ANY OTHER CHEMICAL IRRITANT ON A PERSON WHO IS CARRYING A GUN!!!!!!!

YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BE SHOT OR SHOT AT!!!!!

Get bear mace that will slow them down! Actually this makes sense i wouldnt mace someone with a gun! its like taking a knife to a gun fight. Even if you have a gun you do not want to go down that road!

Check the Pepper Spray Laws in Your Area. Pepper spray laws can be different in different areas. Some states regulate or forbid tear gas, or some may allow cities to make their own assorted laws regarding tear gas. Many countries, including Canada, also forbid tear gas. For this reason, it's a good idea to call the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over your destination before you bring pepper spray there. Pepper Spray is legal in all 50 states. However, possession and/or use may be regulated or prohibited by law in some jurisdictions. Check with your local police department.

Here's a good link to check out ...

Brother kicked two off my property down by the creek. They just thought they would help themselves to the beaver on my land. Didnt know where the property lines was?? My brother was already trapping this colony. They had 4 or 5 traps set late Sat and were in standing on the beaver house setting traps ...which is illegal to do. They wont be back.
