mike
The way I see it Chris is still talking hunting and that is awesome! I read Dans thread about getting some stuff out to him and the first thing that popped in my mind is the kids gonna need a crossbow for archery and a nice big ground blind. I am not very good at seting these things up and don't know if maybe someone has the time or connections to get it going or get us a deal on these items. I thought i would post this up and see if anyone else thought this sounded like a good idea. Maybe bass pro or cabelas would give us a good deal. ruttinbuc
I think it may be a better idea to wait and see just where Chris is in his recovery and what his abilities are. It will be some time until we know that.

Hunt or be Hunted
I think it may be a better idea to wait and see just where Chris is in his recovery and what his abilities are. RTPROFamily
I agree with ruttinbuc on this. Sending him hunting items now may only depress him more. I think if instead we send things to cheer him up. Funny things to do,read ,watch or maybe video games. We do not know how long it will be before he is able to get back in the woods. I do know that when he is ready to get back in the woods we all will make sure he has what he needs! We have got to keep his spirits up and I am worried that hunting gear may depress him instead. A friend of ours had this happen to him at age 16 , he is now 27 and has just returned to hunting in the last 5 years. Just my opinion but maybe someone should talk with his family and see what they think Chris needs or would like to pass the time. Realtree Friends are here and willing to do what is best. dance.and.shoot
we can always send him the Bathroom Reader...those books are hilarious. I read them while I was in the hospital and they really lifted my spirits up. I agree though and think it might be better if we wait for a bit to send him huntin' stuff. stevebeilgard
i go along with ruttinbuck, and darla has some great points. let's settle down, see what chris needs, and rally from there.
mike
I wasnt sure of this either thats why I wanted to get some opinions from everyone else. Just an idea that popped in my head is all. I just read the update that said he was up in his wheel chair and talking about hunting. What ever you all think is fine with me
RTPROFamily
I have an idea for those sending Chris a card. Get a calling card for X amount of dollars and include your phone number and tell him to call you whenever he needs to talk with someone! I use one to call Buckee and Diana all the time. Just an idea to go along with whatever you can think of.
redkneck
Mike's dead-on guys. Think about it... Chris is yet to be hit head on with the depression that's coming when he fully realizes his outcome (I think anyway). He definitely still has lots of time to spend recovering. It's not like there's paralasys one day, hunting the next. Dont get me wrong, I know the intentions are wonderful, but I also know what it's like sitting next to someone you love teaching them to feed themselves all over again in rehab. I think he needs something meaningful to let him know folks in here are thinking of him. A ground blind may be great next season, but may have the opposite effect on his spirits if we send it now when he realizes he cant use it anytime soon. Just my opinion, and we all know what they're like.
