Lost my buddy...

Well after 13+ years....some bad, mostly good...knee surgery, cancer tumor and spleen removed, bad eye...my rotty (Stratton) had to be put down.

It was hard...but not as hard as I thought. Guess I figured he led a good long life. Well taken care of and loved better than some treat their children.

He was a good 120lbs. in his prime...he was down to about 60lbs. when he was put down on Fri. Mentally he seemed all there...his body was failing him. Finally quit eating and drinking because he couldn't get up! He didn't seem to be in pain...never once wimpered, but wasn't fair of me to let him keep living much longer that way...it wasn't a good life style.

Friday Nov. 6th...RIP Stratton...you'll be missed!

This is a picture taken back in his prime and how I'll remember him!

i'm sorry to hear that, but after 13+ years, he had a GREAT life i can tell. we had a collie-shepard mix that we put down just last winter and he was in the same condition. couldn't get up to eat or drink, it was so sad. but we extended his life for a solid 10 years. Rest in peace Jake and Stratton!:angel1:
