bghunter777
I bought a summit viper and in the kit that came with it was a Realtree EZ hanger. WOW These things are hard to get into a tree. I was in a poplar tree not the hardest wood on the planet either. If you push it straight in it will go in but who wants it rite above you. Trying to get this thing in a tree around the side is near impossible. The thread is to thick and just makes the whole bigger but never grabs the tree. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
get one of those 99 cent gear hooks and use it to start a hole int tree, the ez hanger will go in a lot easier
GWSmith
This sounds familiar...alot of people have had trouble with that very thing. If I remember right some people have had better success with them if they took the paint off the screw part. Others take along a small screw-in hook to use as a hole starter. I myself took off the small hooks near the screw and sanded the weld smooth so I could grab there and assist the starting by applying pressure towards the tree. ToddCountyKiller
I have removed the paint from my threads and it still didn't work. And just the fact you have to start a hole with this gadget, take it out, then screw the EZ Hanger in. Its just a pain. Take the EZ Hanger and jab it into the tree where you want it.Then start screwing it in, it should catch when you start it always has with me. It dosent make too much noise when you do this neither. nyhunter22
i have the standard small EZ hanger that only holds my bow and i had trouble at first until i learned the trick. you do need to give it a solid jab into the tree then with the arm that is closest to the tree (not the arm with the bow hook) grab it and press into the tree and keep turning. with the pressure towards the tree and that first good jab, you should be set. Yep, what I do. Have had a few oaks that were pretty tough, but never had a tree I could not get the hanger started in.
