Have any of you guys tried them before and do the balistic reticles actually work, I know in the past Ive heard mixed results with nikons bdc reticles and this is basicaslly the same thing. The Kid Posted November 16, 2009 Report Share Posted November 16, 2009 umm i don't know about the ultraslam but i do have a leupold with mil dots 3 by 9 by 50 not sure if its the one your talking about by took a doe at 210 yards last year, using the second dot on my scope.. using 150 grains of triple seven pellets.. im not a nikon fan everything i own is leupold so thats what i went with Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Buckeye54 Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 I haven't used a scope with the ballistic reticles mainly because I don't use 150 gr of powder and a 250 gr bullet. There are so many more better loads for my gun that I can't belive they would work for me. The only way I have heard they are helpful is if you match each aimpoint for the distance it actually shoots in you gun with your best load. hungry hunter Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 I know of several folks who went out and bought the BDC Muzzle Loader scopes. The only thing they did not like or enjoy was the 150 gram loads. They will punish you after a while. All of these guys shoot compatition and got some age on them. Their answer was to learn a Mildot scope, they are cheaper and serve the same thing without having to use the magnum loads from your ML. jdavis Posted November 18, 2009 Report Share Posted November 18, 2009 I have the Nikon Omega and the BDC is definitely helpful. More than likely it is not going to be right on, there are too many variables. The first circle is right on for me at 150 yards, but when I shoot out to 200 yards I have to use the circle that is made for 250. But I'm shooting a 290 gr. bullet and 120 grains of powder.
