ALAN
does warm weather play a part in deer movement.does it affect the rut any??
Chrud
In my experience, unseasonably warm weather has a negative impact on whitetail activity. This should be prime time in Wisconsin right now, but with temperatures in the 60's the last couple days the daylight deer activity has been very slow. joeaveragehunter
These deer only get one chance to breed every year, so they are moving. However, with the warm temps, they move during the night when it is cooler and move little if any during the day. Morning is the best time to hunt during warm weather. BEEF
Im in central illinois and its warm and the crops are in, corn is starting to get cought up around my hunting ground. but when i drive around at night i see tons of deer out moving and alot of good bucks on there feet.During hunting hours nothing, i believe the pre rut and some does being breed have started but most of its going on at nite and or in the corn. You never know when the big one will come by but its going to be a tuff rut . I have about three good days to bow hunt before the gun season unloads and its not looking real good . Still i love to hunt and you cant stick em from the couch and if that dosnt work, it will be time to unleash the smoke pole on em !!!!!! Exactly what I was going to say. I have killed deer during the day when it has been warm, but things definitely slow down during the day and pick up at night when the weather is really warm. MichiganHunter
well for me it's going to have both a positive and negative affect on the deer movment I will see. We hunt a 250+- farm with about a 60-40 split woods/crp to planted land. the farm we hunt however is part of a 2 mile by 1 mile block of woods, crp grass and farms. Our farm is on the oppisit rotation to most other farms. Were beans wile most other are corn. The deer movment is naturally slower in warmer weather since our property is really the cold weather property for the animals BUT with the corn stand the deer will hold there till it's down....AND THE POSITIVE, the warm weather is getting the corn dryed out SUPER fast and last weekend EVERY farm had it's combind's out cutting corn....SO corn should be down by the time season gets here and we'll be just loaded with deer. headhunter54
Warm weather Since a deer has a winter coat on, I think they will be like us and not run around in the heat with heavy clothes on. Look in the shady areas if they are out at all. Seems like a few years ago we always hunted in heavy clothes, not "T' shirts.
Tecumseh
It got up to 70 over the weekend where I hunt and the deer hardly moved during the day.Going to hit it again next weekend one more time with the bow before gun season kick's in here.
