spykbuc
The first buck was shot two days befor the closing of the regular fallbow season. A nice 5 pointer that dressed 149.9 on the scale. the second was a nice 7 pointer that was taken during the permit fall bow season. both deer were killed in DMZ 13. Today sunday the 8th. Wow what a nice day. Did some yard work, some scouting in zone 18 and the oldlady got stuck at work better yet. so at 2 o'clock mason and i decided to go fishing. half way there mason says he wants to go hunting. long story short, turn around, no fishing and off to north jersey for an afternoon hunt. this is the first time i took advantage of the sunday hunting. mason and i got set up in the double ladder stand around 330. mason only 4 years old and his second hunt tells me he wants a buck. as the sun went down i see a doe and a buck, he looked nice about 100 yard away com up the hill. they just milled around and then two more nice buck come up the hill. the one buck started to make his way over to us. i told mason he was going to com up to our left, he had to sit tight and not move. i got some video of the buck coming up to our left and then he turned and before i knew it he was behind us. i had to turn around and he made our scent. i drew back the bow and i noticed my lower cam was almost touching the rail of the stand. i kinda moved around and let her go. wow a clean miss. the buck ran off about 45 yard and way down hill. Now at this time mason started asking me just as loud as he could be " did you miss dad, did you miss" ME " yes mason i missed, quite he is right there looking at us. I put my one foot on the seat of the ladder and leaned out and knocked another arrow. i drew back and put the 45 yard pin on the buck as he looked at us and let her rip. it was like slow motion. i watched the tracker knock hit this buck in the shoulder and dropped him. mason was pumped and so was i. just about the greatest hunt ever. if he didnt want to go hunting i would have not gotten this dude. I shot this buck last night in DMZ 13 in North Jersey. I had bigger bucks around according to my trail camera. I got to the stand at 1245. at 1240 there was a spike and a different 5 pointer there. i later learned this from trail cam photos. anyway set up at 1pm and at 3 this dude came by. got great footage of the shot and also captured the shot from the ground cam as well. the buck went 30 yards and took a dirt nap. the buck dressed 149 pounds Edited November 10, 2009 by spykbuc
