Well it's out of the bag anyways...lol

As of the 22-23rd of this month the Wife and I are headed south to live.

Were going to be residents of the State of North Carolina for 13+weeks while she completes a Travel Nursing contract near Greenville, NC.

Just got done calling the appropriate utilities and the cable company and decreasing the costs while were away.

Were only buying what we will eat before we leave.

Going to the post office to have them hold the mail, etc.

Made the more important of the phone calls yesterday and talked to Ross Tyser(Hammerforged) and since he's going to be only a couple hours away we'll be meeting and doing some hunting together:robot:

I'll also only be a short distance from Chris when he comes home from the hospital so I'll be pestering him quite a bit...lol

...and for the trip a couple days ago got new tires for my baby...lol

P.S. I wont have to shovel snow and it's breaking my heart....

Good luck and have a safe trip Gary! Looks like you won't be needing those Warmbags for a while. I'll PM you my address so I can keep one of them warm and broken in for you! :D

I'll let you try one....even a brand new one...for a minor deposit of the purchase price I'll even have it shipped from the home office directly to your home:clown:

Hope everything goes as smooth as poosible during all phases of your transition Gary.

Thank You..So far it has been going good...the biggest problem we've had is a couple of the prescriptions that my Wife takes.

We've got it worked out now but there are regulations against having some of them filled at a different pharmacy acrossed state lines.

Theres alot of things to moving that we are finding out as we go along...so many things we take for granted have to be planned now.

Great, just what the South needs....another Yankee coming to town to tell us why we are doing things all wrong! :D

If you fly-fish, NC has some of the very best fly fishing streams in the South. The Nantahala catch and release section is outstanding and the weather through December can produce some 70 degree days. Try it if you want something to miss very dearly when you move back to the north. Browns, brookies, and rainbows.

I've whitewater rafted the Nantahala a bunch of times, fished the river up in Cherokee for native Rainbows, and think Ya'll are doing things right to begin with;)

Then you got it going on. Just above the put in is a bridge, I like to fish just below that bridge.

My buddy and I fished the trophy section in Cherokee and didn't have too aweful much luck--bad day from all reports on the river.

I saw some palomina(o) trout that were so big, I thought they were rocks. None were caught because every yodel has thrown every fly known to man at them.

The Nanatahala is a lot more fun, IMHO, because it has naturally occurring hatches in all weather and I know the river pretty well.

Best of luck....a wife who is a traveling nurse is great. They make a lot of money, are rarely around, and know how to take good care of you when you get old and when to do you in so you don't become a PITB for everyone! :D Bet of luck to you guys.

Nice job tying....I have given up tying dry flies. Mine just turn out ugly.

I tie royal coachman streamers a lot because no one sells them locally any longer but they work GREAT.

For the 'hala try some blue winged olives and some elk hair caddis.

But for those deep holes, this is the pattern for one of the BEST flies I have ever tried for saltwater or fresh. I know, I know, everyone thinks they have the best. This fly is called a dallberg's deep wiggler. It is essentially a double fly with a segmented body and lead eyes (two hooks with the back hook's shank cut off). It is essentially a wooly booger sytle dubbed with flash material body and it has rubber legs coming off the side of each segment. I guess in the saltwater version looks like a shrimp and the freshwater imitates a crayfish? All that I know is the slow day on the Cherokee trophy stream turned into an 18-20" rainbow.

I will tell you that when fishing it, be careful. It is weightier than other flies and will often overload your rod so keep it on shorter hauls. There is nothing worse than getting nailed by it between the shoulder blades when the wind catches it. I thought I had been shot when I did it the first time.

Interesting looking Fly...possibly a Centipede imitation but who knows. I've always went by try everything in the box and tie more of what your hit on. When I sit down and start tying I'll do a run of one type then a few off the wall weird stuff. My most popular on the local water was basically a giant Black Widow Spider imitation. I tied it with a bright red plastic bead in the center and black wire for legs with peacock herl wrapping those. Overall size was probably 3" and it tore up the catfish until I lost it. Just never tied another...yet.

I think this is shrimp/crayfish and possibly centipede.

Many of these large trout on the hala and the Cherokee stream are so old they aren't fooled by anything. I don't know if it is the uniqueness of the fly, the action of the legs, or the size of it, they just tear it up.

I have had such good days with it that I took it off because it was too successful.

Tie a few and give it a try. Never had a bad day with it, especially on heavy pressured fish.
