Rugermk2
Hey all, I set my deer cam out this past sunday, and gun deer season is the 20th of this month. How soon should i pick it up, so i dont run the risk of bumping deer out of my spot? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
dogdoc
To my knowledge I've never had a camera spook or bump a deer out of an area so I wouldn't worry about that. If you are wanting to check the camera do so during the day when there is less chance of spooking/bumping a deer. Also practice good scent control when checking during season. I carry latex exam gloves with me when removing my cards and spray down with scent killer.
MichiganHunter
It depends how quick and quiet can you get in and out. If ou can get in and out with LOW effect ie. you might but a deer, then i would go in on the 18th...If it's going to be a little more intrusive ie. you will bump a deer regardless of how quiet you are. I would go in on the 16th or 17th, and if it's going to be VERY intrusive...ie. you will bump several deer and theres NO way around that. Leave it, go in an extra 30 - 35 minuets and pull the card and play it in you regular camera, if you can....if not...I would just leave it till the afternoon of your opening day. OR pull it on the 15th/switch the cards, I like a few days between going in and hunting...depending on my impact on the animals.
