Turkeygirl
How long do you think i should wait till i hunt it? I hunted my one stand this morning, saw a nice spike come down into the one field/woods corner and 4 does come into the corner from the field, all in this one corner where I've been seeing them but out of range...including the big guy from the other night. Also had a buck chasing does behind me where I couldn't see. Andy and I went and grabbed the one ladder stand and moved it into that corner, cut a few shooting lanes....it's about 30 yards in from the field edge...right smack in the middle of where these deer are coming into the corner. I didn't hunt tonight but was wondering, would tomorrow morning be too soon? By the way, big fresh new rub in this corner...I'm thinking the big guy is hanging around here... DropTine49
Sounds about right, if deer are in the area they are also curious creatures that will be interested in any changes that you had to make to the land to get you and the stand in there. muggs
I would have hunted it the next morning, some times I think we give these deer a little too much credit.
camoman1
Yep, whenever the wind allows you to sit there, give it a try. Ive hunted stands a few hours after hanging them and have had deer within range. Good luck!
jm23494
Like everyone said hunt it as soon as the weather/wind permits. The buck I got this year was out of a stand that had been in it's spot for 3 hours. The same day I had a friend miss an 8 point out of a stand that was hung 2 hours prior. It's all a matter of scent control and playing the wind.
