Rugermk2
Question to all who view, do you think if your hunting a stand you should stay in it all day, or do you take a break about mid day? Some of my friends say break, and others say sit tight. Which do You all prefer, and why? Thanks for looking
GWSmith
Depending on the wind I'll sit in a stand all day if possible. Especially when hunting Public land!!! Why not use other peoples actions for your benefit? They are going to do a deer drive for you by getting up and pushing deer around headed out to their trucks for lunch while your sitting tight in your stand;) Another key is to get in your stand very early and use the late arrivals as deer drivers too;) If I only have half a day to sit in a stand it will be in the afternoon so that when I leave it's at night. wtnhunt
Usually take a break mid day, but my stands are all in walking distance from the house so I can get back out pretty quick. Right now, I would sure like to be able to sit all day, however it has been pretty warm here. Have had bucks pushing does around here after 9 am the past 4 or 5 days despite the temps being warmer than normal. Our rifle opener is this Saturday, I would hunt all day, but have to go to a wedding 3 hours away so I will have to be out of the woods by 9:30. Looking like it is likely Sunday I will attempt to sit all day.
TN Bucknasty
It depends on the time of year, what deer I've seen in the area, what part of the country I'm in, etc. Right now I'm sitting all day. I'll pack a lunch and have a bite around noon or so. Other than that, I just sit still.
sskybnd
i try to sit all day during the rut, and if its cool enough and i dont get to hot, i sat all day sat and when its hot the skeeters can realy be annoying.
Buckeye54
I rarely have the chance to be out all day, but when I can I usually take a break sometime during the day. Just can't sit in a stand all day like I used to.
joeaveragehunter
It is always better to be in stand all day, but most of the time it is just not possible. The only time I sit all day are opening weekend of gun season and the two weekends before that bow hunting
hunterbobb
I try to still all day but I usually can't do it. Just don't have it in me anymore. I never miss sunup and sundown though. :gun2:
BearClaw
During rifle season all day, during archery it depends on other commitments and deer movement. In our areas the deer move real early and real late as a rule.
