JimT
I would buy the Nissan. All around a better quality vehicle.
billkay
Re: opinion on a new car I know Dodge has some issues with body corrosion. Nissan is quite solid but from what I understand the oil passages in the engine are on the small size and can become blocked easily if the oil is not changed religously. I have wanted an Exterra now for a while and wouldn't hesitate in buying one.
fisherguy
Re: opinion on a new car Dodge, of the two it is more versatile and i think an overall better buy.

Norm Sauceman
Re: opinion on a new car Depends really on just exactly you would want to do with it. If I were getting the Dakota (Truck) then I would be able to haul a deer in the back and other things. If I got the Exterra, I would not want a deer in the back and would have to buy accessories to keep blood out of the back.. I am a truck man myself, but that is what makes the US so great.. we can ALL be different!

preacherman
Re: opinion on a new car Had a friend who had one of those Nissian's and he liked it...........but said that they were a little unsafe on wet roads with the chance of rolling over. I agree with Norm, I am a truck man!

Tominator
Re: opinion on a new car I can't recommend either one. My dad was a GM employee for 37 years, so needless to say, it's always been GM products for me.
fisherguy
Re: opinion on a new car [ QUOTE ] i have narrowed my search down to 2 choices [/ QUOTE ] I think he asked for opinions on the two. Why does everyone have to get off track with ""ford sucks", "chevy rocks". He said he already narrowed it down, meaning he likes those two and wants constructive opinions, or recommendations. Guest Finn
Re: opinion on a new car I always check out www.edmunds.com and www.consumerreports.com Edmunds give reviews to from editors and customers. CR tells what their tests show on vehicles. Both seem thorough and unbiased...except the customer reviews....those I take with a grain of salt. Good luck with your purchase. mitrrophybowhunter
Re: opinion on a new car If you can afford the NISSAN TITAN do it. I am a chevy man but I work for a supplier that supplies powertrain products on it and man what a truck. It is very very powerful, more so than any truck I have driven. I would pick the dakota over the two you threw in
jjones
Re: opinion on a new car well I also would say chevy but between the two you listed I would go with the dodge. the new dakotas look awesome!!
archerjg
Re: opinion on a new car It would be a toss up between the two of them. I would drive them both to see which drives better to me. Have you checked out the reviews of these vehicles? If not try www.motortrend.com and go the the truck of the year testing.Good luck with your decision. Archerjg
Rhino
Re: opinion on a new car I've owned my last foreign vehicle. My last 2 were a Nissan and a Izuzu. Every time something needs to be fixed the parts cost twice as much. With that said I'd go with the Dodge but I'm a Chevy/GMC fan too. Hillbilly
Re: opinion on a new car I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 V8... pretty soon I'll get me a powerstroke. If they have wheels and are 4x4 then I'm game . But I sure do like those Ford Super Duty's

Illinoisbowhunter
Re: opinion on a new car I would get the Dakota. We've got a 93 with 135k has been a really reliable truck. The new 4.7 V8 replaced the 318 which started in the years of 01' and present. I have heard some great things about that motor, it sounds like it will really deliver. Of coarse time will tell wether it turns out as good as the 318, as you know how long they will last
stevebeilgard
Re: opinion on a new car rhino had it right. parts are exceptionally high on foreign cars. wife just sold an infinity (high end nissan). qx4. poor power, too small, but very, very quality built. smaller than a ford explorer, and 16 miles per gallon. just couldn't stand a small vehicle with worse gas mileage than my suburban and no power. go for the dodge. but, do you really need a v-8? i'd think it over on the big engine. Guest J_Owens_66
Re: opinion on a new car Well, my opinion is Dodge is junk, i think all american made vehicles are in that case. I love america, but they don't make motors like they do overseas. I would go for the Nissan anyday, the american made motors just aren't advanced as the japanese motors.... Get the nissan, it'll last longer, get better MPG, and it will probably perform better on and offroad. Stay away from american made vehicles unless its a diesel. Just my opinion, not trying to offen anyone in any way.
mitrrophybowhunter
Re: opinion on a new car I disagree on the MPG thing with Nissan. They have one of the worst overall MPG in the industry! With that said they also have the most powerful.
