coles
I was reading about this new cartridge in my mag last night and saw a show on tv about it. Sounds like an amazing little deer round once Hornady comes out with the 139 gr SST for it. As of now its loaded with 120gr and 140gr Hornady A-Max bullets at around 2900fps and 2750fps. It was dedicated as a long range round based off of the 30TC. Its a little bit shorter than the 260 Rem.
hunterbobb
It probably is a good round. However 6.5 rounds are not very poplular in this country and I have a feeling it is going to be short lived. In a few years you will have trouble finding ammo for it. Just ask people that bought the remington short magnum rounds how they are doing finding ammo. I happen to be one of the few rifle loonies that love the 6.5 caliber. If i was you I would buy a 260 Remington. Of all the 6.5 I think it has the best chance of surviving. :gun2:
WaCoyote
I'm another 6.5 loonie. I think it's the greatest deer caliber there is. Flat shooting, mild recoil, great BC for good trajectory, great sectional density for better penetration. I do disagree a bit though with hunterbob. The 6.5 swede is entrenched pretty well and in a modern rifle and reloads you can get way better balistics than factory ammo will give. With really any 6.5; The swede, 260, creedmore, or any of the 6.5 mags you really need to reload or you'll probably be a little disappointed just because theres not enough factory ammo to choose from. Anyways, I have a 260 and a swede. I thought about the creedmore, maybe someday but for now I'm happy with what I have. If you choose any 6.5 roll your own and you'll love it. I guarantee it. It's an absolute deer stomper and very easy to shoot. If you don't reload and don't plan on starting go buy a 7mm-08. Lots of ammo and it's very close to the 260 rem, creedmore, and the swede. hunterbobb
Sounds like you and me need to hang out WaCoyote. I like the way you think. I feel exactly the same about everything you said. I considered recommending the swede but I think it's star is setting. I have a 260, a swede, a 6.5 mag, a 264 mag, a 6.5-06, a 6.5 X 57 and a 6.5 Jap. I love em all. :gun2:
